This is a fantastic read. Usually, battletech novels center around a character or characters. For this novel, it tells the story of a particular 'Mech, whom has piloted it, and where it has been. Each short story is exciting, and a great description of how salvage moves around in the Inner Sphere. Hopefully the authors make some more novels following this example.

I am about three quarters of the way through this book and I am really enjoying it. It chronicles a Inner Sphere BattleMech from inception to its final battle over the course of centuries. The story itself centers on the pilots who took it into battle and each of their personal stories.

As with most of the better BattleTech novels, it is the characters that make the story worth reading.

One of the things that I've always loved about this universe is that, up until the 3050 timeline, you always have this sense of a culture that is in constant technological decline. The Battlemech is often Ancient and nearly irreplaceable technology, and is nearly venerated for its value .
