After helping Melanie get her belongings into the house, which she bought as a condition of her grandmother’s will, Katherine thinks Melanie should reconsider. Josh is there when a hurricane threatens the house and helps Melanie get prepared for the storm to hit. But she and Josh hit it off and one minute and the next he is angry. Everyone in the town tells her how kind and easy going Josh is. What is behind he changes in moods? When he moves to New York, Melanie has conflicted feelings at first. Will he come back?

This story is the about love, but has many stumbling blocks along the way. It is enjoyable and uplifting with beautiful characters. I definitely recommend The Beach House.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this story, not having read anything by this author before. But I was greatly surprised by what I got, and in a good way. This story is about love, but it involves not only the living ones, for several generations before them, also.

I loved all the twists and turns, but it was the opening scenes that really sucked me in. I've lived on the east coast of Florida for 40 plus years now, and all of the descriptions of the things they went through during the hurricane, was spot on. I also loved the mystery aspects of this story. It sure kept me turning the pages, that's for sure. I finished this story a few hours ago, and I'm still grinning from ear to ear. That doesn't happen to me all that often.

I couldn't put it down, and felt let down if someone interrupted me. Then I hit a snag when Melanie's sister Kathryn interfered and told Josh's mother about the letters. I stopped reading for a whole day. I was doing just what the characters in the book were doing, and couldn't face what was going to happen next! I was XO involved in the book, it became real to me and I was afraid of where the story might lead next! I have never been so engrossed in a book or wht the author was telling me in my life. 24 hrs later I faced the book and finished the story with triumphant glee and satisfaction!!! What a wonderful story and Tremendous Author Jenny Hale is!!!

Yes this is a romantic telling of the relationship between Melanie who hesitantly moves into the village on the recommendation of her grandmother who she nursed through cancer, and Josh who is desperately trying to leave the area because of the upsetting memories it has for him despite being in line to inherit a beauty spot from his grandfather. However, it is strongly interwoven with the tragic retelling of the deep regret of a not-to-be relationship between their grandparents. Melanie and Josh get their HEA ending but only via a series of stressful circumstances.

A very emotional ride and not for me (I have deleted it from my Kindle). However, I have to give credit that it was very well written and some people will absolutely love it.

My first book by Jenny Hale and my last. Speed read the last half as I found it quite claustrophobic. The book revolves completely around Melanie and her love interest Josh, who seems unpleasant from the moment we meet him - and then seemed to me to be grumpy and unpredictable throughout most of the book. It’s basically a “will they, won’t they?” book. I’m not against romantic novels but like them filled out with more characters and scenarios than in this story. A little boy up for adoption was included, and the novel ends with our heroine and hero adopting him and inheriting three million dollars. Like you do. Jenny Hale seems to be widely liked so maybe I just read the wrong book first … but won’t be bothering with any more.
