I am an ESOL teacher who works with Head Start students (4- and 5-year-olds). This is a heartwarming story about a bear who wants to invite his friends to his cave, but when he looks in his cupboard, he discovers that it is empty. Each of his friends brings something to his cave and the bear is sad because he has nothing to offer them. They reassure him that he has stories that he can tell them and that they are happy to be with him. This is a great lesson about the nature of friendship and the concept of thankfulness that is especially appropriate at Thanksgiving.

It’s a beautiful book! The illustrations are amazing and the story is so cute. Perfect book to read to my kiddos in speech therapy for Thanksgiving (lots of lesson plans for it on Teachers Pay Teachers)!

The stories surrounding Bear are so wonderful, the rhythm of the words has a nice cadence. Bear and his friends have great adventures together. I would recommend these books to everyone. I believe I have purchased and given away 4 sets of the books starring Bear (8 books in the series I believe).

Good illustrations, so-so text...Reviewed in Spain on June 17, 2021
It's an ok book. However, I wished the text would rhyme better... The story doesn't flow too well. I am comparing to other books like that that I have bought, and if had an option to preview the book before buying, probably would have left it on the shelf...

As a teacher this is a great story for children to learn the concept of saying thank you when being given something from others. A simple story that has great characters and a story line that is simple to follow. For any teachers out there, it is also a great story to do a reenactment with or to make props with for your book corner! A definite keeper!
