Review
A walk through the woods provides ample opportunities for spotting colors in Bear and Mouse’s latest adventure. “Mouse and bear are walking;/ they are chitter-chatter-talking./ So much for them to do./ And the bear sees...” begins Wilson, as the animals appear against a white backdrop; both the open-ended rhyme and a pair of blue dragonflies hint at what awaits after the page turn. The next spread is a riot of blue, with Bear splashing in a river while flowers, fish, butterflies, and fruit offer readers many opportunities to “spy blue with Bear.” Though Wilson’s rhymes can be a tad herky-jerky, Chapman’s vibrant acrylics give children plenty to pore over. -- Publishers Weekly ― July 14, 2014

My life is a series of lessons and moments that see me to the next lessons and moments. Some moments are sweet, some scary, some a blur gone too fast and forever missed. I write for children because all of these steps started there, in childhood, and that sense of wonder, keen curiosity, and the ability to see things much kinder and more magical than they actually were, fades as time passes and years and experience claim your naivety. For me it is a feeling only rekindled when I am creating books, stories and poetry.
My children, family and friends are a great inspiration to me, and the support of my readers is a tremendous honor. It is always my desire to entertain children and encourage them to think about and explore their world, and the worlds beyond, embrace creativity, and love learning for the duration of their life. Knowledge comes through words, so for me literacy is the foundation of education, and it bears the fruit of intelligent and empathetic citizens of this world and humanity.
Jane Chapman has been illustrating children's books for over twenty-five years. She loves to paint snow, especially when the weather is hot, but she gets very cross with her cat when he sits in her paint.
Jane lives in south-west England with her two sons.

It’s a great addition to any child’s book collection.

The title page in our book has a smudge. I'm not sure what from, but doesn't bother us.
