Alix Miller is commissioned to paint a gentleman's portrait at his breathtaking country estate, but her subject is more challenging than she imagined. Lee Crompton has been rejected by the outside world that sees only his facial deformities. Together, they find their hearts' desires and discover that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.

This is one of those movies that leads you to believe that anything done with a pure heart, kindness, and unconditional love is possible. When I was a very little girl, my Grandmother taught me to never judge anyone by their looks but by what was in their heart because I might just miss out on one of life's greatest gifts. She would always say," treat others the way you would like to be treated." She never ever lied to me no matter how painful life's lessons were. I am so grateful to have listened to this little pearl of wisdom because along my life's path I truly would have missed out on some of the most amazing people one could ever meet.
When I need a feel good prescription I watch this and it helps to make a bad situation feel a little more bearable. Buy this DVD and you'll see what all of us reviewers are talking about. You won't be sorry...enjoy! UPDATE: I enjoy this movie so much that I just bought one for someone who dealing with some really tough times right now...I hope it brings some comfort.

Beauty and the Beast

Although the guy was suppose to be the Beast, he really wasn't that ugly (but he was in his opinion). I thought he had real character in his face, but like a lot of us guys, we are not the handsome dude that a lot of women go for. The Beast truly has a heart of gold, and I thought the actor played this well. Ms Turner has always been a favorite of mine (from years ago in Northern Exposure) and she really does a good job here. Such a great example of "look beyond the looks and look to the heart of the person"... Personally I would have liked this guy to be a friend

Great movie!

I have watched this movie online on You Tube for the past 5 years, and decided that I had to have it for my library. I love the lessons that this movie taught on love and looking beyond just the "outer appearance" of a person. Many times a man or woman who is thought to be plain or unattractive "outwardly" has been passed over for the man who is handsome, or the woman who is beautiful. Sadly, they discovered that the handsomeness and the beauty was only skin dip, but did not reflect the soul of that person. This movie will make you think about how you see and judge people based on how they look outwardly. I would have given this movie a 5 except for the 6 month time lapse in their relationship. I had too many questions about what was going on in their perspective lives during this time. Ladies, the next time a "Lee" approaches you, you might want to think twice about turning down that dinner invitation!

A Sweet, Hidden Gem!

There are many modern variations of Beauty and the Beast, but this movie is the best of them all. The chemistry between Jamey Sheridan and Janine Turner is wonderful and Hal Holbrook as her dad is a treasure, as always. I have watched it numerous times since discovering it a few weeks ago and find new, subtle little nuances in the acting every time, especially with Jamey Sheridan. The non-verbal acting he does under all that makeup to show Lee Crompton's emotions is really impressive. Some may call it a chick flick, but I'll take it! This chick loves it. It is so well done.

This movie reminded me the kids story "Beauty and the Beast" with some contemporary overtone. Nice romance story, shows inner beauty is what makes people fall in love. Sweet, romantic, clean!

RARE FIND! .....A clean and moral Drama / romance movie... on AMAZON!!!

This movie has great acting, script, and, screen production. Rare find these days, without all the swearing, sex and violence.... definitely missing the politically driven agendas!!!! London, Wilson, and Thompson.... we'll probably never meet, but y'alls deserving some real credit here. We country folk are not deserving any acknowledgement from yu'ins or any one else, but I gotta say...." see.... something just as good or better than "Heartland" HAS come out of Canada!"
