The information is straight forward, easy to understand and apply. The stuff just makes sense and is a check for parents too. You get out what you put in - the same goes for kids.
The material makes you think outside the box and the scenerios presented are real. I like the book is not judgemental.
My youngest is ten and he's struggled with getting out the door for the bus. I passed that "monkey" to him and he's risen to the occassion. I wouldn't have thought giving him more power over the situation was the solution but it truly was. He's in charge of getting out the door on time and he takes this responsibility seriously.
My oldest is almost thirteen and I'm seeing more opportunities to help her grow and flourish as well. Without being a nag or embarrassment.
Both kids are thriving and wanting to spend more time with us as we are starting to treat them more like responsibile adult. Again, not how I expected it to play out.
I highly reccommend putting aside how you think it should be done and open your mind to how this book suggests. You'll be a better less stressed parent for it.
