An Adorable and Moving Story

Looks to me like most of the more negative reviews of this book were complaining about the sound relating to voices so I figure they had the audio version. I read, I don't do audio.

Mine was the mass market paperback and I was hooked from the first page. Seriously hooked. I started this sweet book yesterday and have nearly finished it already. I love the main characters, the storylines, just about everything to be found in that book and I hope for a very happy ending. I have to fight to keep myself from checking out the last few pages ahead of time!

Susan Mallery is one of my favorite authors and lately there has been a book or two of hers I wasn't crazy about, but this is NOT one of them. This is a typical, emotional, and very sweet book and feels all Susan Mallery.

What a poorly constructed inane book. There was not depth to any situation in the book and one medical crisis that was manufactured for who knows what reason was totally inaccurate. Still so annoyed.

Nissa's Narration Sounded More Like a Teenage Girl

The story was not bad. I liked the way Desmond was so generous to Nissa's friend. I liked the way he interacted with the kids. I couldn't stand his mother. I think I would have liked Nissa's character more if I had read her instead of listened to her.

I liked the male narrator's voice, but the female narrator's voice not as much. Her voice was a little to sing songy for me. Not exactly lilting, but sometimes the tone was up and down with statements ending on a higher note that made them sound like questions. Almost like a childish, or teenage voice. It was hard to think of Nissa as a teacher, or as an adult. The male narrator was a nice change to break up the way the female narrator spoke.

There was a bonus chapter for another book called "The Friendship List" after the book ended, and I actually thought it was an epilogue for Before Summer Ends at first. The narration for Ellen sounds exactly like Nissa's, inflections and all. The narrator's reading voice is fine, but her character voice took me out of the story.

I don't know know if I could listen to an entire book with just the female narrator.

Disappointing, fill in the blank HEA

This read like Susan Mallery wrote it in the mid-1980s. I am a huge fan, and I was really disappointed in this too-fluff-y book. It felt like someone gave her a fill-in-the-blank template for the story.

Horrible Narration for Female Character

I started this book and immediately regretted the purchase. The female narrator sounds like a robot. Just terrible. All the emotion of reading a Dick and Jane book. I did go back to it, the male narrator was better, most of the time, but also had moments of sounding like a robot. It certainly would have been more enjoyable with better narration.
