I’m a storyteller. It took years for me to come up with that descriptor to answer the question, “What it is you do exactly?”
I spent decades as an actress telling other people’s stories and then one day, I started to tell my own. I’ve never looked back. My short stories can be found in several anthologies and online magazines. Over a dozen of my plays have been produced at a variety of theatres in Los Angeles.
I couldn’t do it without the amazing network of writers, artists, friends, and family that help me find the will and time to create. You all make me better, and I’m lucky to know each and every one of you.
When not tinkering with the alphabet, putting little black marks on the computer screen, I work my day job as a Pilates teacher, paint, cook, garden, and enjoy time with my husband Ron and our many critters.
Kate Findley's works are a blend of horror, sci-fi, slipstream, and magical realism, with humor thrown in. She is particularly drawn to themes of mind control and magic portals. Her works are often non-linear and feature multiple narrators. Although her writing does not appeal exclusively to young adult readers, her stories frequently feature teen and tween protagonists as this phase conjures up potent memories. Plus from her years as a teacher, she's gotten to know this age group quite well!
Born and raised in a tiny town on the Texas coast, Kate always wanted to live in a big city and naturally moved to Los Angeles at the first opportunity. Her hobbies include tennis, hiking, and kickboxing. In her other life she works as a freelance copywriter, specializing in the personal development market.
She regularly reviews works of sci-fi, horror, and magical realism. You can read her book reviews and more at https://katefindley.authorreach.com/.

Just in time for the holidays it would make a great gift. I plan to buy one for all the people who seem to have everything.
This anthology would make a great gift for classroom teachers to use with their students as a way of teaching short story structure and narrative voice. I also recommend it for anyone interested in reading stories with a twist. Five Stars!
