SURGE PROTECTION SAFETY
If a surge protector ever becomes hot to the touch, shut off the unit immediately.
Never daisy-chain power strips to other power strips or extension cords
Never allow a power strip to be exposed to a moist environment
Avoid running too many high-energy consuming appliances through a single surge protector at once
High-energy consuming electronics/appliances include window AC units, space heaters, refrigerators, washers/dryers etc.
Only one power strip should be plugged into a single two-outlet electrical socket
Never cover a surge protector with carpet, furniture, or anything that would limit or prevent air circulation
IMPORTANT: The protective components inside surge protectors that absorb over-voltage spikes will eventually wear out. Most estimates put the average lifespan of a surge protector from 3 to 5 years.
Used only few months, looks like brand new!

Amazon was cool and immediately sent me a replacement, but the replacement is of the same generation and is quite cheaply manufactured. It functions as an on/off switch, but I wouldn't trust it to do anything else. And I can't safely open it to verify the integrity of its internal components because the screws they use are single-use.
So, yeah, pay attention to what you're buying here. The price is cheaper than it was a year ago, and the quality of manufacturing has also decreased.
I live in a suuuper old house, like predating the Civil War old, so I bought this power strip for the Belkin name and the fact that it cost more than your run of the mill $8 ones you pick up at the store and may fair better with my old faulty wiring.
You'd think for double the money it would be better right?
WRONG! After only three months I just found this thing with a melted hole in the back and a big black spot on my wall where it exploded.
I've had power strips from 1988 that've held up longer!
If you are just looking for some extra outlets, I would suggest buying a cheaper power strip. If you're looking for something to protect against lightning strikes, you can forget this power strip and probably any other. Our electrician suggested we buy a whole house surge protector, which costs about $350, and so that will probably be our solution after we do some research on a reliable brand.. We certainly won't be buying anymore expensive surge protector power strips. This one at least was worthless.
Then everything got worse. At first I only had a couple things plugged in, and they worked. but as I added a game console, DVD player, etc. I noticed some of the items didn't work. A little investigation with a multi-meter found that an entire side of the power strip was dead. Then my Digital Receiver stopped working, even when plugged into a completely different outlet (it is now dead).
I had it more then 1 month, so I called Belkin Customer Service to discuss their warranty. That was a joke. The Customer service Rep was a jerk over the phone, and basically said that Power Strips bought through Amazon didn't qualify for their warranty because "Belkin doesn't know how long it was kicking around on Amazon's shelves before it was purchased".
So let's see, flawed design, DOESN'T WORK OUT OF THE BOX, FRIED my Decoder, and Belkin won't back their warranty...
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

This is a great product & helped me clear up a lot of cabling clutter. The power outlets are in different positions which allow you to put different devices with various adapters together, otherwise the last bar i was using had 12 slots but they were right besides each other and if you install an adapter, it would cover 1 other outlet besides it making that outlet useless.
The picture does not show it but there is actually a cable management at the end of the outlet which you can use to run your cables nicely through.
The only thing that I would suggest is that they use a better quality material to make the outlet. The plastic felt very cheap in the hands. Overall it will get the job done and look stylish while doing it.
I have several items hooked up behind my TV set; PS3, Wii U, cable box, modem, TV set, charging cables.
Prior to having this I had to switch out one plug for another depending on what I wanted to use at the time and it was hard to clean underneath with all the cords!
This mounted to the wall behind the tv perfectly and has enough outlets to have everything plugged in.
Great sturdy quality as well. Highly recommend!
Over the last week or so I kept smelling a very slight burning smell of plastic or electronics. Finally found the culprit, a 20 year old power bar/surge bar that had developed a toasty condition that can be seen in the photo. Just age and material breakdown along with high draw on that plug.
This new Belkin 12 plug unit fit the bill perfectly with the side plugs (needed) and the almost 4000 Joule power surge capability. Extra long, heavy duty cord was great!
Feels like decent quality and looks good enough to place anywhere.
I use them for all my electronics, especially long-term ones like the TV and computers to avoid power surges. It's also great for behind the TV with all your accessories and gaming consoles with so many outlets!
My parents have always liked Belkin, and have passed that brand loyalty to me as well. I've never had an issue with any of their products like I have with others, so I will continue to buy their products.
The price for these may feel steep, but you are buying something that could save your most expensive electronics.. I'm hoping to buy more in the future as we need more space, but am otherwise very pleased with these bars.
Belkin and APC are my go-to surge protectors. The only real difference is the quality in the craftsmanship.
The Belkins always feel cheaply made and assembled. Very stiff and robust to change the outlets to open and closed. They could also use a little more shaving of excess plastic from the closure doors for the outlets.
Other than that, they work and do what they're supposed to do.
They're cheaper than APC and this model offered more Joule protection compared to the APC model I was looking at for the same number of outlets and cable length.
Will have to get more to replace other surge protectors around the house.
My first one arrived with a big crack in it but it was very simple to replace through Amazon - as long as you get a good one, it should work very well. I'm very pleased with it, no issues at all.
El cable es super resistente.
Trae protecciónes para coaxial pero yo no lo uso.
