It will take the frosty terrain of the Arctic to show these rival scientists that their chemistry burns hot.
Mara, Sadie, and Hannah are friends first, scientists always. Though their fields of study might take them to different corners of the world, they can all agree on this universal truth: when it comes to love and science, opposites attract and rivals make you burn…
Hannah’s got a bad feeling about this. Not only has the NASA aerospace engineer found herself injured and stranded at a remote Arctic research station—but the one person willing to undertake the hazardous rescue mission is her longtime rival.
Ian has been many things to Hannah: the villain who tried to veto her expedition and ruin her career, the man who stars in her most deliciously lurid dreams…but he’s never played the hero. So why is he risking everything to be here? And why does his presence seem just as dangerous to her heart as the coming snowstorm?

About the author

Ali Hazelwood is a multi-published author—alas, of peer-reviewed articles about brain science, in which no one makes out and the ever after is not always happy. Originally from Italy, she lived in Germany and Japan before moving to the U.S. to pursue a Ph.D. in neuroscience. She recently became a professor, which absolutely terrifies her. When Ali is not at work, she can be found running, crocheting, eating cake pops, or watching sci-fi movies with her two feline overlords (and her slightly-less-feline husband).

I’ve been loving the STEMinist series, so this was another instant download for me. Sadie from Book 2 may have been my fave heroine, but Ian topped my list as far as my fave man of the group. He gave all the swoony vibes and he was so protective of Hannah. Honestly, post-grad life can be so confusing, but this trio of friends is consistently there for one another even with the distance separating them. I find their friendship so relatable, and the instant friendship between their men is so cute.
I love Ali Hazelwood’s representation of women in the STEM field. If you are looking for an awesome series with a great narrator - I highly recommend the STEMinist Novellas!
Hannah is an aerospace engineer who has found herself in a life threatening situation. The only person willing to brave a storm to save her? Ian, the person who didn't want to see this project happen in the first place. Through out this novella, you hear the history of Hannah and Ian and, let me tell you, the tension is out of this world! Hannah and Ian are my new favorite couple.
Overall 4 stars
Performance 5 stars
Story 3.5 stars
This was a cute and fun instalove novella. Savannah Peachwood narrates the book wonderfully and I really enjoyed her performance. Ian is one of the most ooey gooey cinnamon roll heroes I've ever encountered and I loved that he stayed true to himself and what he wanted. Obviously, I fell hard for him ;) Hannah took a bit more to grow on me. She's prickly and standoffish, but that tough shell holds a tender heart. I wasn't a fan of the main conflict (simple misunderstandings drive me bonkers) and it felt like drama just for drama. Some of the situations had me suspending disbelief, but overall this was a quick and sexy read. This cover is my favorite of all three STEMinist novellas <3

3.5-star for narration
This is my first time listening to an audiobook narrated by Savannah Peachwood. I'm not sure if it was the content of the book or the way the narration was done that took away some of my enjoyment for it. I feel that the narrator made the hero, Ian Floyd, sound so... constipated!!! Like he was constantly in pain or suffering. He's supposed to be a chief engineer of NASA, an aerospace engineer genius, who has risen to his current rank despite his young age. But from the audio, he doesn't give me this badass vibe that I was hoping for!
Hannah Arroyo grew up with her genius siblings, but she couldn't figure out what she wanted to do with her life until her senior year in high school, and once she dedicated her focus to landing a job at NASA, she made it through her PhD program in aerospace engineering, and finally got her dream job. At her orientation session on her first day at work, she encountered Ian Floyd again, with whom she had had a brief meeting full of sexual tension five years prior.
The timeline of the events in this book was not continuous. It was jumping from different time periods/events between the past and present, so it made me feel a bit disconnected. Perhaps this is the reason I didn't feel the relationship development between Ian and Hannah. That being said, I liked Ian for being protective of Hannah, literally saving her life from a dangerous field mission, and for admiring Hannah for her intelligence. I also liked seeing Hannah opening up slowly to him despite her no-attachment policy! If you're interested in NASA missions and what it takes to be an aerospace engineer, this will give you a snapshot of those!
All in all, Ali has yet again delivered a winner of a novella about two Mars loving NASA scientists who are social opposites finding love in the backdrop of Mars rovers and polar crevasses and life threatening research expeditions.
