She trusts God while bracing for attack. He makes war to protect his clan. Amidst a bloody conflict, will either survive the inevitable collision?
Tensaw Settlements, 1813. Twenty-year-old Adela McGirth strives to follow God's will. While pondering whether to accept a seemingly ideal proposal from her suitor, the sweet settler's daughter encounters a band of native intruders on her family's land. But soon after a handsome member of the party shows her mercy, Adela is terrified when they return for a brutal attack that ends in her captivity.
Totka Hadjo is eager to prove his worth. After a gunshot wound ended his status as a renowned fighter, the fierce Creek warrior reluctantly joins an aggressive faction. But when their raid leads to a beautiful redhead being placed as a slave in his household, he struggles when the young woman begins to evoke unexpected feelings of desire.
As Adela adjusts to life in the village and slowly opens up to the honorable man, she still searches for opportunities to escape and track down her missing father. But as Totka catches wind of bluecoat soldiers closing in and a longtime rival threatening to steal Adela away, he fears the only way to protect her is to let her go.
Can he win over her trust before the world tears them apart?

"I just read this book for the FOURTH time since last June... less than a year!! I read a lot of books...I have a lot of great authors/books on my Kindle, but this book, this series...I just can't get out of my head, or my heart." -JJ Review
From the Author
Chock full of history and romance, the Creek Country Saga is an enthralling Christian historical romance series that has earned rave reviews from readers who enjoyed books like The Wood's Edge by Lori Benton and The Frontiersman's Daughter by Laura Frantz. And movies such as The Last of the Mohicans and Kevin Costner's Dances with Wolves. This series will appeal to readers who enjoy deep and meaningful romance, enemy-to-lover stories, Native American history and culture, interracial relationships, Christ-centered plots, and forbidden love.
Please note this book contains intense battle scenes that might not be appropriate for young teens.
The Red Feather and The Sacred Writings must be read together. The rest of the books in the series can each stand on their own.

I was awed by the portraying of each character and the way they interacted with each other, so realistic, so exciting.
I read a lot of books...I have a lot of great authors/books on my Kindle, but this book, this series...I just can't get out of my head, or my heart. This author grabs your attention and pulls you so far into the story you don't want to get out, lol! It's really hard to put down to go to sleep (I have lost a lot of sleep...even after reading several times...is that weird?!)
If you're looking for an engaging book with realistic and fast moving, historically accurate plot, this is the one.
Also, the main characters are flawed, but so real and lovable! I really like both Totka and his Copper Woman (Adela)...and they have a rare and intense chemistry together. Really wonderful writing. Vivid scenes. Unforgettable.
I hope you enjoy this book - the entire series as much as I have!
But even putting aside my bias, this is a really good novel. Totka, though not yet a Christian, is an amazing hero who does whatever he can to care for his family and the woman he loves. Adela is nearly his equal as a heroine, as she is fierce in her protection of her family and firm in her faith in Christ even if it might cost her Totka.
There were moments when the text could have been clearer. Often, Adela would refer to "him" and it would be unclear whether she meant Totka or Nokose or even someone else for a few more sentences. Oddly though, this made the story seem more authentic to the time period so I did not mind it overly much.
I highly recommend it to those who love Historical fiction, especially who love stories with Native Americans.
Highly recommend this book. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.
The story about Totka and Copper Woman, and the development of their romance...sigh. I love how they met in an unconventional way, and then met again in the most horrific circumstances. How does one fall in love after that? It takes God.
Ladies, you will enjoy this book. I was a history major, so I appreciate the realism (i.e., war violence). The ransacking of the fort may be a bit too realistic for some (I would pre-read this book before letting kids under 13 read this).
The Christian story and tale of God's love being allowed to flow through us (even to our enemies) is POWERFUL. After getting two chapters into this book, I immediately bought the other two books. I did not regret this at all. Brava, Ms. Gardner!
I’m new to this genre but I really enjoyed this novel from the start.
Adela lives with her parents and sisters but one day she has an encounter with a warrior, Totka. During a raid, Adela and her sisters are captured as slaves.
Loved her conviction to wait on the Lord, her strength, perseverance, and love for others. Enjoyed reading of their attraction and interaction with various tribe members.
I personally don’t mind a saga or the fact that the story continues into book 2. I thought the story moved nicely.
This story is worth of your time, of your emotions, is thought-provoking and has everything I need in a good book: love, faith, danger, pain but mainly hope.
I won't be able to forget Totka and Adela. There was such a love between them. And the characters were very believable for me. Their love continues in the second book and I am restlessly expecting the grand finale.
