I really tried to like this book, and stuck with it for much longer than normal when there are so many other things to read. Charlotte's hypocrisy concerning lying; Simon's PTSD which is magically cured whenever he's around Charlotte (PTSD is a very real and serious issue for our veterans - don't write about it if you aren't going to research it); decisions to break up then make up happening over and over, virtually every day, I was getting whiplash. I finally gave up at about the 65% mark.
Simon is like every girls dream!!! He may be high society but that doesn’t stop him from going after what he wants and he wants Charlie in a bad kind of way!!! She is not the typical high society girl that everyone approves of because of her many tattoos and colorful hair but he is so smitten with her he just can’t help but go after her!!! He couldn’t care less what people think.
“I wanted a best friend, a lover, a partner, someone I could depend on and raise a family with”
Oh my goodness who does not want a man like that??? But what I love the most is that he wanted all of those things with Charlie despite there differences!!!
However Charlie was hiding a secret and because of that she kept running from her feelings and Simon because she was convinced she didn’t deserve him. I got sooo mad at her for not telling him what her secret was being that she had so many opportunities to do so. I can understand to a point but she knew the kind of person Simon was so she just should have told him. Especially knowing he would've help her simply because he said so. He loved her so much!!! And nothing would change that but she just couldn’t tell him. By the time she decided to it was too late. Someone outed her and she did what she did best. She ran. Needless to say Simon was heartbroken. He does everything he can to help her while she is gone to try and make things right and well things don’t go exactly how she planned. What happens??? Guess you have to read to find out.
After everything she still feels she doesn’t deserve Simon but a life long friend puts things in perceptive for her.
“ life only gives us so many chances at happiness. You'd do well not to waste this one”
The question is does she let it pass her by or does she embrace it??? And if so will Simon take her back???
A great great book!!! I can’t wait for Con's story!!! I know it will be great!!! I most certainly recommend this book!!!
extra that just makes the book longer.
Megan Marsh piqued my interest from the first (I don't normally go for mysteries like this).
She also managed to keep my curiosity through the book.
If you like mystery romance, this book is a good choice.
The characters are interesting, even a bit over the top in romantic angst, the plot relevant, but
the dog should have been a bit more involved. Huck was literally too interesting to be trivialized.
That said, it's a good book.
Sex and language make it better for the 18+ crowd.
This story is about Charlotte Agoston and Simon Duchesne. Charlotte/Charlie moves to New Orleans in hopes of becoming a new person and to escape the FBI. Her dad was involved in a money scandal and the FBI wants to talk to Charlie.
Simon is a former Navy fighter pilot who works for his family's shipping company and is looking to run for US House of representatives.
Simon runs into Charlie at a tattoo parlor. He feels a connection with her even though the first meeting didn't go well and goes back to see her for a 2nd time. Luckily, Charlie gives him a chance and thus starts the ups and downs of their relationship.
“I wouldn’t ask you to be anyone but who you are. And if people have a problem with you, then they can go to hell.”
This story just had all the components I love
* sassy, strong, independent heroine
* hero who isn't too alpha for my taste, didn't put up with Charlie's crap either
* Huck - Charlie's dog
* fun banter between H & h
* just enough angst
* steamy sex scenes
My first book by Meghan March and will definitely plan to read more.

Spoiler alert.
Charlottes dad has been charged and found guilty of stealing billions of dollars of a lot of people. Charlotte is so disgusted by her dad and what he did she runs and hides. Then she meets Simon but for whatever reason doesn’t tell him the truth about herself. And it goes on and on. I’m really sorry but no man on earth would be that understanding about her not telling him anything about herself!!! Not her name, where she grew up, if she has any siblings. Nothing!! No man would fall in love with that. It could have been a really good but some of the storyline spoilt it for me.

Simon the eligible bachelor with a promising future in politics just can't stop thinking about the tattooed feisty Charlie.
He knows nothing about her and she won't make him any wiser but he's still wanting to bed her and make her his.
Charlie knew she couldn't hide forever but she really wanted to tell Simon because this thing they have won't go unnoticed.
Simon was a gentleman with a little secret of his own.
Loved the chase and the sex was hot. We even got a little meet and greet with Charlie's family.
Not all loveydovey.

Charlie runs away, after her Dad is sent to prison and starts a new life for herself. As she’s a person of interest for the FBI she has to change her name and what she looks like. By doing this she questions everything she believed she knew about her family and herself. She then meets Simon, but can’t let him in completely as she’s still running from her past.
Really enjoyed reading about both their pasts and how they are helping shape their future.
