From the Back Cover

Papa Bear and the cubs are having some trouble with chores—they don't want to do them! When they decide to take a break from cleaning, Mama Bear plays along. But what will happen when the mess builds up . . . and up . . . and up?

About the Author

Stan and Jan Berenstain were already successful cartoonists for magazines and adult humor books when they began writing children's books. The first story starring the bear family, The Big Honey Hunt, appeared in 1962. Since then, more than 370 Berenstain Bears books have been published, and more than 300 million copies have been sold. What began as an idea sparked by their young sons' love of reading has become over the years arguably the best-selling children's book series ever.

Since their inception, the Berenstain Bears stories have expanded to include picture books, beginning readers, and chapter books--even a hit TV show on PBS. Writing and illustrating the books has become a Berenstain family affair. Mike joined with his parents as a creative team in the late 1980s. The Bear family has expanded over the years as well. Sister Bear arrived in 1974, and baby Honey joined the family in 2000.

Though Stan died in 2005 and Jan in 2012, Mike continues to create the delightful Berenstain Bear adventures from his studio in Pennsylvania.

Since Stan's death at age eighty-two in 2005, Jan and Mike have continued to write and illustrate wonderful new adventures for Mama, Papa, Brother, Sister, and Honey Bear. They live in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, which looks a lot like Bear Country.

1.0 out of 5 stars So bad I had to write a review...
By emmybluesky on January 9, 2021
Yes, I’m actually reviewing a Berenstain Bears book on Amazon because it’s THAT bad. When it arrived, I thought we had received a bootleg copy because the pictures are not finished like other books. The illustrations are sketches.

The entire story is awful— mama bear does all of the work and gets tired. (Whhhhy is papa bear portrayed as a lazy man-child?) Anyway, instead of working out the problem— and showing my family how to work together to distribute the housework more evenly, which is why we bought the book— Papa bear convinces Mama to stop doing chores, too. When mama stops doing chores (but not all chores-? she still cooks and cleans up and is okay with that-?) the house gets messier. So messy that a bug goes after sister in the tub and baby Honey eats a bug. HA! Yes, you read that right. The cubs and Papa wind up cleaning one day while mama was out of the house. It was random and no future plan or moral was explained. The ending was mama came home and noticed the house was cleaner. Haha, I can’t even.

Another oddity in the book that didn’t sit well with me— their dog poops inside the house and it’s sister’s chore to clean it up. So when she doesn’t do her chores, the dog poop stays on the floor. I know they are bears, but why are they letting their dog poop on the floor??! This. Is. Not. Normal.

I included pictures, but take it from me, buy a different Berenstain Bear book. We’re returning this weird one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality
By K. Matview on December 23, 2020
Disappointed in the quality of the pictures on this one. It looks like pencil drawing that they forgot to ink and erase the pencil lines. Colors in weird places and outside the lines. Dog poop steaming on multiple pages. One page has a creepy centipede swimming in the bath water to get Sister Bear. Pretty sure if I read this to my four year old I’d have trouble to get her into the bathtub. Returned

1.0 out of 5 stars Not good condition but cute
By meranda on December 18, 2020
Ive ordered alot of books from of Amazon, and they have all been in excellent condition. This is the first time that I've ordered a book that has arrived in this condition. I JUST opened up my package and it has dents, folded pages, some corner discoloration, and tattering. Other than that I like that there are alot of words to read so that the story is not over too quick.

At first I received a copy of this book that had not printed correctly. When I address that issue with the seller, he sent me rapidly, without any argue, another version that was perfectly printed. Thank you!
