What's worse: the casting or the writing?
Verified purchase
The filming on-site is the best part of the series, and that makes this worth the watch ONLY if you're a totally hopeless fan of the European spy genre. Otherwise, not much to recommend here except for Michelle Forbes who's able to make the most of the very unsophisticated script. The plot is TV-conventional: avoid a war and rescue a kidnapped agent, you've seen it a hundred times. The writing is, well, pathetic (too many typecasts to even count). The casting -- which maybe might have helped salvage the writing -- is ridiculous (a 25 year old playing the handler for a top agent and sitting in on high level meetings with the Station Chief). Wish I had better news, I've always liked Ashley Judd. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Great series that ended on a not so great note.

Disappointed that Season 3 was the final one, especially since the grand finale episode was left open ended. Hope the producers and Epix will consider its loyal viewers' emotional investment in the lead characters (Miller, DeJean, Edwards, Kirsch, Krug, Yates, and last but not least, Frost, who completely skirted the retribution that he well-deserved to receive) and make a follow-up movie before putting the series to bed permanently.

Stellar acting, writing and directing in a season that stays real and doesn’t take the easy way out.

You aren’t reading this review unless you’ve experienced Berlin Station seasons 1 and 2. This season doesn’t skip a beat in creating a high stakes story that easily resides in today’s world. Stellar acting, writing and directing in a season that stays real and does not take the easy way out.

A long awaited new season for one of the very best spy series available. I just heard it will be the last and that is just not fair. The locations are breathtaking and the action just doesn’t stop.
