WOW! I've purposely kept myself from reading any reviews of these books until I finished reading them to keep the story a surprise and it definitely was!

Truth be told, the book started out kind of slow. Actually, I was a little let down with the first 2/3 of it. Zoey is finding her place at HON and has surrounded herself with a great group of friends. But then people she knows from her former life start disappearing and it all points to a vampyre. Quite honestly, I felt at first like this was being dragged out and nothing was really happening to find out why people were disappearing and who was behind it. But once the action started, things were finally starting to shape up and we learn of what's really going on.

There wasn't a whole lot of character development for me. The only people we really learned more about was Aphrodite and Nephret. In the first book I just knew that I wasn't going to like Aphrodite's character at all but after this book I think I'm changing my mind. We learn why she acts the way she does and does some of the things that she does. We also learn a bit about her family and that explains A LOT! Nephret's part in this book is very telling as well. I can't really say more than that without giving anything away but I can't wait to see what happens next with her.

Zoey is discovering more about her powers and her connection with the goddess Nix and that's a big part of her story in this book. I've read in some reviews that her love triangle (or maybe quandrangle?) was bothersome to some readers. For me, it really didn't even phase me. She's a 16 yo. I think that was down perfectly and I remember times like that.

All in all, a pretty good book. The last 1/3 more than makes up for the first 2/3 and I will for sure continue reading the series.

Zoey Redbird is the most powerful vampyre fledgling the House of Night has ever seen. In fact, as far as anyone knows Zoey is the most powerful fledgling in vampyre history. She has been touched by Nyx(The Goddess of Night.) It's clear by Zoey's accelerated rate of change and ever growing abilities that she is meant for somthing profound. But for all that Z still has to go through all the growing pains that come with being a teenager. She's got boys coming out of the would work. There's her almost ex boyfriend Heath, who she's imprinted with
and who's blood she craves, Zoey's Vampyre Superman, upper classman Eric Night(yep that's really his name.) And to help complicate matters, Zoey seems to be conecting on a very personal level with part time tacher and poet Loren Blake who is as amazing as he is forbidden. Whats a girl to do?

Zoey has taken over leadership of the Dark Daughters and Sons, and is determined to change the school oganization from an elitist clique to a group with meaning, value and substance. she is getting comfortable in her skin and things are getting easier to deal with. But Zoey's strength is about to be tested again. In new and truly terrible ways. She must learn to cope with a soul deep sadness, deal with a betrayal that cuts to the bone, and keep a promise that may turn out to be impossible.

Any doubts I had about this series were erased with this book. This for me is one of those reads that make you grumble at being interupted and reevaluate the need for sleep and food, then grumble some more cause the wait till the next book(in this case Choosen in March '08) is intirely to long.

You should know that unlike most of P C's books this is not a stand alone story. You don't abosolutely have to read Marked first to understand Betrayed But it really helps and I recommend it highly. If you read Marked and weren't thrilled with it, please reconsider and read Betrayed. It really is that good!

Betrayed is the second book in P.C. and Kristin Cast's fabulous A House of Night Novel series. The story takes up pretty much from where Marked left-off, though an indeterminate period of time has passed since the events of Marked.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I just devoured it; it took me less than a day from start to finish to read this, and I can't wait to start the next book in the series :)

Betrayed has all the wonder of Marked and some of the same flaws too. It was nice to get re-introduced to the cast, to Zoey, and Stevie Rae, and Damien, and the Twins (Shaunee and Erin, who aren't really twins at all), and to Erik, and to Nala (Zoey's cat). I fell straight back into the world of House of Night, it was like I'd never left. I really liked that about this book.

We also got introduced to some new characters, who were interesting, and I can't wait to see how they develop. Changes are definitely afoot in this book. It is interesting to see how things fall out, and the questions it causes for the next book - which, just in case I haven't mentioned this before, I am looking forward to reading. Aphrodite and Neferet are very, very interesting in this book. I won't say more than that, because I don't want to spoil it for you. But I couldn't let them go unremarked upon.

There are some definite twists in this book, some of which were hinted at in Marked, but they're more explicit in Betrayed. Zoey is a bit well . . . silly in this book, and there were times when I wanted to poke her. Yet that was part of the thrill for me, I felt involved. Zoey's reactions are kind of understandable, especially with the major mystery of the book - who is murdering the humans?

If you've read and liked Marked, you should definitely continue on to Betrayed. And if you've not picked up Marked, then you should.

I read this a few months ago, so the story isn't fresh on my mind.

Betrayed starts of not long after marked and when teenagers start dying, Zoey helps find out who the killer is.

Ok so I did really enjoy this book, the story line was really enjoyable but I've given up on this series because I can't stand Zoey! She really annoys me and makes a big deal out of nothing. I've heard the books get worse as the series goes on, so that's another reason I've given up, which I really hate doing!

Like I said, the story line is really enjoyable and keeps the reader interested and I would have liked to continue with the series, but I know I couldn't because I couldn't deal with Zoey! But if you're a fan of the series definitely keep reading, I'm just sad I couldn't continue.

Between and 4 and 4 1/2 stars.

This is an interesting follow up to the first book. The pacing is very slow and the plot focuses more on character development. Particularly concerned with a character who is revealed to be more than we were first lead to believe. The writers clutch at an element of mystery in this one, but it remains broken by the corny, slightly embarrassing dialogue and characterisation of the teenage cast. The characters aren't exactly rounded, but that doesn't spoil the overall enjoyment of the plot if that's what you're into. I still appreciate that this series tries to do another take on the eternally undead vampyre genre.

I have every book in this series. If you are buying these, you may want to get the first books that explains all the characters and how they became who & what they are. (personally I started from book 1 and then at the end I went back to the book of the characters)
Using my kindle i just kept clicking to the next page & next page & next page & found myself having read a book & a half in no time. Couldn't put them down. Really interesting characters.
How many books have you read and its all vampires and humans full stop!!!? This one has powers, Indian legends, creatures and a lot more.
Must read & well worth the money. ENJOY!!!
