Meghann Dontess is a woman haunted by heartbreak. Twenty-five years ago she was forced to make a terrible choice, one that cost her everything, including the love of her sister, Claire. Now, Meghann is a hotshot divorce attorney who doesn’t believe in intimacy–until she meets the one man who can change her mind.
Claire Cavenaugh has fallen in love for the first time in her life. As her wedding day approaches, she prepares to face her harsh, judgmental older sister and their self-absorbed mother. It is the first time they have been together in more than two decades. Over the course of a hot Pacific Northwest summer, these three women who believe they have nothing in common will try to become what they never were: a family.
Tender, funny, bittersweet, and wonderfully moving, Between Sisters celebrates the joys and heartaches that can only be shared by sisters, the mistakes made in the name of love and the healing power of new beginnings–all beautifully told by acclaimed author Kristin Hannah.

I just know that I expected a lot more from this particular author. I mean, "Winter Garden" and "True Colors" are two of my favorite books! This definitely won't deter me from reading more of her work, I am just going to chalk this up to... maybe the one time Kristin Hannah didn't give it her all? Maybe she had a deadline to meet? I dunno. My advice would be to skip right over this one and read something else of her's. The two aforementioned titles are total winners! Let's just pretend "Between Sisters" never happened eh? ;)
Misunderstandings led to their estrangement when Meg was 16 and Claire was 9. They kept in contact by phone, but their closeness and friendship disappeared. Meg goes through a challenging time with her successful career in law, and she takes time off and goes to the small town where Claire lives to help with her wedding.
There is more romance than some of Hannah’s other books. I had tears in my eyes for the last thirty pages. This would make a great movie. If not for the Hollywood big screen, it would make a great tear jerker made-for-TV movie.
outstanding books. I'm wondering if this was her first book and they republished? Unlikelable characters, poorly developed, trite dialogue. heavy on the sex and language. This is a cheap throw away paperback one might find in the resale bin. I will have to think carefully before ever purchasing another one of this author's books. Do not waste your money or time. It does not get better. This one will not be saved and go promptly in the trash can.
I think reading Nightingale ( AMAZING READ) had me expecting
More than Between Sisters had to offer. I hope Kristin Hannah’s other books are less trashy vocabulary and more focus on characters & story. It did have a well written happy ending.

Meghann, elder sister and sometime mother figure to much younger Claire, has become a highly successful and driven divorce attorney, who immerses herself in her career (and one-night stands) to avoid emotional entanglement. Single mum, Claire, runs a holiday park with her dad. Let down by her daughter’s father, she is a love cynic like her sister. The women’s relationship is fraught with tensions and deep-seated grievances that neither can voice. It is only when life-changing events and two unlikely men join forces to break down the self-imposed barriers both inside and between the sisters that healing finally becomes possible.
A great read, with well-drawn, likeable characters and a cliffhanger of an ending!
