Eddie Murphy...what more needs to be said?

I recently rewatched this movie and that led me to rewatching Delirious and everything else Eddie Murphy I could find. The man is just ridiculously fantastic in this movie. I love every single thing about it. And time has done nothing to diminish the comedy - it holds up.

Murphy's 1st solo lead and he shined
Verified purchase
Beverly Hills Cop was Eddie Murphy’s fourth film and an important one because it proved that he could carry a film all by himself. Previously he’d been in buddy movies with Nick Nolte in 48 Hrs and Dan Aykroyd in Trading Places. Now the studios believed in his box office appeal enough that he could be the sole lead. This proved an excellent decision because Murphy shined allowing him to throw in jokes while being an action hero cop. Shout out to Judge Reinhold as a Beverly Hill cop that works with Murphy and Bronson Pinchot who plays a gay worker at an art studio. They were the two best supporting roles. The 80s keyboard and drum machine soundtrack is also iconic.

In college I toured all of the Beverly Hills California film locations seen in the movie
Verified purchase
What's cool about this movie is that all Beverly Hills California locations in the movie were out of reach for me at an early age, even though I was born in Los Angeles. As an underprivileged child you just never see yourself hanging out in the Beverly Hills areas at age 16. Once I went to college I toured all of the film locations seen in the movie. It was a real joy to reminiscence about the scenes in the movie while seeing the locations in real life. Good job team.

It's okay. It was better 30 years ago, when Eddie Murphy was near front and center in everyone's psyche and just Eddie showing up was funny. Lots of F words by everyone. Bare breasted women in strip club scene. Batman and Robin caliber jeopardy scenes. Big bad guy leaves protagonist alone with lesser goons to die. Protagonist escapes. Unrealistic gun scenes. Long range center of mass hits with snub-nose revolvers. Bodies go flying when they are hit. Silly submachine gun bullet impact special effects (evenly spaced hits along the top of a railing, because that's where it was easiest to place the squibs that spray the plaster dust), for example.

Eddie Murphy Will Make You Laugh With His Type Of Humor
Verified purchase
This is a must see movie for anyone that likes Eddie Murphy. The kind of laugh he has is contagious and will make you laugh out loud. The film cast are very good actors that provide good entertainment throughout the entire movie. The plot of the film was very well written and the ending of story is uplifting. I really enjoyed this movie and highly recommend it to everyone.

80s classic. Brest at his best. if you were alive for the Eddie craze you definitely saw something special. the path to making a movie is often trial and tribulation, but this film seemed destined to exist. a lot of fun, with a great soundtrack and wonderful performances across the cast. i wish there were more extra features but i got this copy on the cheap. enjoy!

Eddie Murphy at his live-action best!

It was well past time I introduced my offspring to Axle Foley, and it worked. My youngest loved it, asking all the way through the movie “they’re letting him get away with it!?”
Everyone agreed that this movie is hilarious, Eddie Murphy at his best.

If you don't have this movie in your collection, what a disappointment!!! Eddie Murphy is at his royal best in this rip-roaring, funny, non-stop action-packed movie!!!! And now that it is in Blu-ray, the action and special effects are crystal clear and wonderful!!! If you want the plot/story line, buy the movie! I will not be the spoiler. What I will tell you, is that you will enjoy watching this movie more than once or twice!!! If you are into action and adventure, thriller movies...this one is definitely for you!! I recommend it to all my family and friends too. Eddie Murphy is "off the chain", "funny as all-get-out", "crazier than a circus clown", and just an all out laugh-fest!!!!! Get the movie, some popcorn and pop, and laugh your heart out having fun watching this movie!!!!!!!!!
