The 20 acres that Judy's death trap of a house was on was beautiful and he could see himself living there forever. He had nothing to go back to Georgia for, but he was afraid to tell Judy all of the truth. It was after The Archangel, Gabriel Neary helped them, that Judy made him come clean. They could not start a relationship on half lies and none truths. Now that everything was out in the open between Judy and Cotter, they both got what they both wanted, a family. Cotter now had something he thought he would never have, a wife and daughter. He no longer had the desire to work for the company and hunt two legged prey again. He finally got his HEA with Judith and Johnetta.
Even though I figured out who opened the contract on Caleb, Olivia still made the story an enjoyable read. Little Johnnie was such a loveable child who made Cotter's hardened heart just melt. He missed that feeling of being needed and Johnnie really desired and needed to have a Daddy who would care for her and her mother.
But Ms Gaines purposefully goes out her to ruin her heroines. As soon as their mouths open🤷🏾♀️…. the intended sassy seems more like crotchety and crabby.
Once Judy felt better, her whole persona did a 180! E.g. Judy nagging at Cotter/ Mr. Stop: “I hope you plan to put that bloody knife in the sink,” Judy says…
This is after the H goes out and shoots you a month’s worth of deer meat🤦🏾♀️?! Not a cute look. No wonder the Good book refers to women being ungrateful.
Her heroines come off as desperate, clueless, and classless. Went from a feeling poorly and likable woman, being nursed back to health by the sexy hero, to a full out nagging shrew. I couldn’t stand her.
And yet again, another no chemistry-no romance-marriage of convenience; which should’ve been a great and fun read. I quit at 75%, realising I don’t care for the brand of humour.
Cotter Wihlborg is just like any other Technician who’s seen the travesties of the world; jaded, alone and living from one contract to another. Judy Morrow has not had it easy. Raised by a grifter mother who’s idea of success is fleecing unsuspecting men if their money, she knows it’s not what she wants for herself.
When his dying target, Caleb Morrow makes Cotter promise to take a box to his wife and child, Cotter never imagined he’d find the love and family he never thought he’d have. Sick and near death, Judy is left to fend for herself and her daughter when in steps Cotter to the rescue. Together they give each other the chance for love, family and a better life.
The H&H make for one weird couple but they fit somehow. I liked Blind Date a lot better and it was good to have the Archangel make a cameo.
I read the first chapter of Technicians..3 and I wasn't impressed at all. But I like this author and will order it. We'll see...😏
