This is the third series set in this world that I've read, and they're all so good I'd be hard-pressed to choose a favorite. The characters are nuanced and likeable, the magic and mythologies fit together and make sense, and each book has a well-developed plot with a story I can't wait to finish.

I've really enjoyed Everly's internal struggles and development through both books, but particularly this one. I can't wait to see where the next book takes us.

She's still trying to overcome what happened in the previous book, and adjust to her new undead life. I think her adjustment and her interactions with Alexis were handled beautifully. You really get a sense of who she is and the struggles she's fighting to overcome. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book and series.

However, Alexius won't let Everly go out in the world before she's ready, but when a murder drives Alexius and Everly to Alaska, they both need to learn together what their limits are because someone is playing with them and they need to find out who before the dark age of vampires come back.

It's a slow burn, and I can't wait to see how the relationship between Alexius and Everly develops.
