I do not understand all the negative reviews this is getting. Mountain folks are a different breed. I've been blessed to have been accepted by the Mountain Folk in the Appalachians - Sabillasville, MD to be precise and was also accepted by the Blue Ridge Mountain Folks near Ellijay, GA. They like you or they don't, but you always know where you stand. There are no politics being played (one thing to your face and one behind your back). Family is family. Whether born to or chosen as my family was. You know that someone always has your back. I think this movie depicted well their bonds and their willingness to welcome an outsider who was worthy of their respect. Would love to see this as a series.

Strangely found myself liking it. Been watching a lot of British crime dramas lately which tend to be heavy on plot and light on action. This served as a nice change of pace. Not too dark, not too complex, and mixed with a bit of action. Though it wasn't great, it flowed well enough to keep my interest. As a murder mystery involving a small town, it is definitely not in the league of a Jesse Stone (Selleck) movie, it was easily in the league of the Lifetime or Hallmark Mysteries (wife is a big fan) and would be an easy addition to their mystery/crime offerings.

I am a native of the county this was filmed in (Rabun Co., Georgia),and while there are stupid people everywhere, this portrayal of locals is insulting! The “feuding” “locals” could barley speak English and looked like they had been picked up at a bar and given a few “pointers” on how to act, and the deputy was portray as an idiot. The WORST acting I’ve seen in years, from almost everyone in the film. Story line was ok, and of course our scenery here is magnificent, but that is the extent of the commendations. Really? I think this probably could have been a good film, but it just came across as ignorant and pathetic. I usually say nothing if I don’t have anything nice to say, but really, this was sad.

Low budget & acting wasn’t great. Save your $2.99 and buy an ice cream cone. I wish I did!

Awful movie, should be part of the free prime movies. Not worth paying for.

This movie was beyond mediocre. I rarely rent a movie and was disappointed that I rented this one. The characters were such awful stereotypes - from the poor hapless hillbilly male deputy who was so inept that he made Barney Fife look brilliant; the super tough sheriff with the curled lip who could crash through doors and flip over a bunch of bad guys with ridiculous ease and nary a scratch; and let’s not leave out the corny old men who tried to act super macho while they spit, snarled and glared their way through their ridiculous feud. Much of the acting seemed stilted and the dialogue was awful. Get the picture? If you do, don’t rent this one.

The writing was awful and it had poor acting. Should have been free. Save your 3.99 plus tax and watch something else.

Can't believe I paid $3.99 for this low budget movie.
