4.0 out of 5 starsA stand alone movie, not a remake of anything you know...

This movie isn't like any of the movies you've seen before. If I had to categorize it, I would say it's an action-mystery thriller. It's not a real horror movie, it's got very little shock value.

The cast does really well, they all play to their strengths from other movies. A lot of twists and turns, although some of them you can see coming a mile away. The movie does keep you guessing as to how it's going to end.

As long as you realize this movie isn't a remake of anything, and you go into it not looking for some scary horror movie, I think you'll enjoy this.

2.0 out of 5 starsThis is not the fantasy island of the TV show. Big plot holes.

a) Nothing like fantasy Island other than the island. Should have been a stand alone concept without pretending to be something that it wasn't.
b) Lots of twists and reversals and in the end the big reveal doesn't make any sense. Feels hastily tacked on like they forgot to write the ending and had to pencil something in quickly.
c) The Roark character is nothing like the one from the TV show (far less interesting) and uses way too much exposition.
d) The script writers appear to have watched maybe one episode and didn't know about the larger back story.

Aweful, terrible movie. Actors were generally flat portraying their characters and the story line was silly.

2.0 out of 5 starsNot worth the buy

Some of the scenery and special effects were awesome but overall this movie blows. It wasn't funny enough to be a comedy but it definitely wasn't scary enough to be a horror movie. The plot isn't that entertaining nor is it easy to follow. Nothing really makes sense.

5.0 out of 5 starsNot Cheesy (cool)

I was expecting cheesy like Charlie's Angels, or Starsky and Hutch. Pretty good all and all. Not a total copy of the TV show but that's one of the things I like. It shouldn't be it's a movie like they made it into a horror type thing too. Room for a sequel !!!

First off, I really liked this movie. I've never seen the TV show or anything like A LOT of the other reviews so I can't compare it to that. I really like the story line of the movie! There were some good thrills and a good twist! I would definitely recommend. I absolutely LOVE Maggie Q & Lucy Hale!!!

1.0 out of 5 starsA terrible attempt to capture the magic of the original show.

C-. This movie is a total piece of garbage from beginning to end. What a shame, as a kid watching Fantasy Island on Friday Nights in 1977 when I was only 10 it was the greatest and scariest show I had ever seen (I was only 10). This movie doesn't deserve to call itself fantasy island. Casting is terrible, acting is also horrible. If you have no memories of the show as a kid maybe you wont feel cheated but you will still wonder who financed this piece of garbage. The scenery is nice.

5.0 out of 5 starsDark and fun take on the ‘70-80s series.

I loved this movie. Blumhouse does it again giving an amazing and fun horror/thriller movie.
As a fan of the series I enjoyed the modern darker take on the idea of Fantasy Island. The choice of Michael Peña as Roarke seem odd but was a great choice.
