About the author

In a little white Summer House at the back of the garden, under the shade of a huge old tree, Polly Babbington creates romantic feel-good stories including The Boat House PRETTY BEACH.
Polly went to college in the Garden of England and her writing career began by creating articles for magazines and publishing books online.
Polly loves to read in the cool of lazing in a hammock under an old fruit tree on a summertime morning or cosying up in the Winter under a quilt by the fire.
She lives in delightful countryside near the sea, in a sweet little village complete with a gorgeous old cricket pitch, village green with a few lovely old pubs and writes cosy romance books about women whose life you sometimes wished was yours.

*****
Hi, I’m Polly Babbington and I love to write.
I live with my husband and family in a beautiful old Edwardian house by the sea, with white French windows, a huge old tree out the back and a Summer House right down the end of the garden where I spend long days spinning stories and drinking tea.
I began writing years ago working for various online publications, my work published worldwide and I started writing books not long after, juggling the stories in my head with bringing up babies - there are a few unfinished manuscripts in the deep dark recesses of my computer I can tell you that for sure. ;)
These days I potter around the house writing, normally with a cup of tea and a very large slice of homemade cake in hand, taking care of my family, and plotting my next feel-good romance stories, ready to launch them out into the world to my lovely readers.
I also love flowers, taking photos, cooking, walking in the woods, sitting on the beach, pottering with things in the house and love nothing better after a day of writing than an evening gardening with a drink.
Love Polly xxx

Sallie turns up at this beach resort whose local community seems to see nobody from outside? And who go out of their way to invite her here and there within two days. Obligatory gorgeous bloke next door, a doctor/cab driver, fish a chip shop owner who sits down and joins her and her rich mate from previous house. A bus driver who lives locally - Ive never seen the same one twice - free labour on her renovations - and dear lord - her rich friends has a sister whose even more rich and sends her designer furniture by the shed load and even ships it over !!??
But it was when she became outrageously drunk and inappropriate I began to think maybe its not for me - like mr wealth and gorgeous would be interested in am embarrassing woman? And the final nail was when she mentioned her head pounding four times within three paragraphs - which was still pounding at the opening of the next. And at that point I just couldn’t read another silly word.

The reasons I haven’t given it 5 stars, the first one was the alcohol. Personally I wasn’t a fan of all the drinking and didn’t like the fact that drinking so much was seen as normal. And second, I didn’t like the comment Nina made about the abuse case. Not really something I expect, or want, from a light chick lit book.
Other than that, worth a read for sure.

It was also hard to visualise the place this book was set as descriptions were lacking. I actually thought it may have been America initially and it wasn’t until over half way through that I realised it was England. This didn’t help with feeling an affinity to the book.
This book needs some serious editing as the language and sentence structure is often poor. The author also had a very annoying habit of calling the characters by their full names the whole way through the book- utterly irritating. I was pleased to make it to the end so I didn’t have to endure anymore of this dreadful book.

The other thing which really annoyed me was that we were supposed to be on her side when she thinks her boy friend has cheated on her when she has been doing the same thing herself. That is hypocracy and I totally went off the character after that.
