Swear Words, Sex and Graphic Violence: There are a few swear words, but one of the main characters is a 19 year old boy. There is no sex or graphic violence, although there are a few deaths.
Plot: Carlotta raised and supports her younger brother Wesley. Ten years earlier, her parents left town because her father was indicted for embezzlement. Afterwards, Carlotta's fiancé, Peter breaks their engagement. Now, Peter's wife is a customer of Carlotta's at Neimans and that becomes one plot line. I don't want to go into details as it will spoil the main plot.
A second plot line is that Wesley, who has a high IQ, gets involved with gambling and loan sharks. Wesley is arrested for computer hacking. He is in major debt and finally gets a job moving bodies for the morgue. His boss, Coop becomes a love interest for Carlotta.
A third plot line is the mystery of the location of Carlotta's parents and is her father guilty or innocent? When will they return? Are they dead or alive?
The romance plot line is that Carlotta has feelings for three men; Peter, her ex-fiance, Jack the detective working Wesley's criminal case and Coop, an ex-doctor who moves bodies for the morgue.
Of course, this is the first book in the series, so the ending leads to the second book of the series. After finishing this book, I immediately downloaded the second book.
Editing and Humor: I did not notice any editing errors as I was so engrossed in the action. I thought the book was funny in places but it definitely made me smile quite a bit.
Other Reviews: I mainly wrote this review to comment on some of the 1 star reviews and their attacks on the character of Carlotta. One reviewer said Carlotta was a door mat. That is NOT the case. She is strong and determined, but you can not man handle a 19 year old brother who is grieving for parents who abandoned him. This is a fictional character so it would be odd if she were picture perfect. I fell in love with Carlotta's character in "Party Crashers" as it showed her not as a sister, but as a young woman wanting to have fun in her tough life.
There were some complaints on the character of Wesley, Carlottta's brother. Well, duh... he is a kid. How perfect do you want him to be when his 18 year old sister had to raise him with no money and no family? He is exactly what he should be.
Then there were complaints that Carlotta did not choose one of the three men. Well, this book takes place in a very short window of time. More importantly, it is a series. So we get to enjoy more mysteries and suspense while Carlotta spends time with each of the three men. I hope this stretches out for many books.
Told from Wesley and Carlotta's POV. No cliffhanger. Series will have ongoing arcs though.

I laughed aloud at the cover quote courtesy of her mum-how nice.
I liked Carlotta although her behaviour on the odd occasion was a little tawdry and not what I'd expect from her so I was a little disappointed. You have to despair on her behalf of Wesley....he needs to get his act together. It's left open-ended so we are left wondering who she may fall in love with and I'll definitely stick with the series.
I did get a tad irritated by the minus ten points things....I didn't really understand it and so it got on my nerves a bit. I spotted sheath used instead of sheaf and Wesley pushing up his glasses got a little old. Matter-offactly lost a hyphen too. Not bad going in the mistakes department, though.
There were some laugh-out-loud moments as is usual in her books and the ending was a shocker as well and I enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed the first three books. And then it just kept going. My advice is to not bother with the first unless you are willing to commit to the rest of the series which is dragged out, poorly written and not worthy of the first book. The last book is surprisingly rushed and though the main intrigue is resolved the romance side is not. Cue another whole series.

However, I didn't really like the characters, although there was some funny dialogue between them, but I hate books that end on a cliff hangar. I dislike the idea that the I'm being manipulated into buying the next instalment.
