The Book of Five Rings (English Edition) Kindle Edition
The five "books" refer to the idea that there are different elements of battle, just as there are different physical elements in life, as described by Buddhism, Shinto, and other Eastern religions. Through the book Musashi defends his thesis: a man who conquers himself is ready to take it on on the world, should need arise.
"On Wall Street, when Musashi talks, people listen."
"One of the most investigated, explored, adapted, and hypothesized about books on the martial arts, Miyamoto Musashi in his wildest dreams could not have imagined that his writings would have had the far-reaching affect on the thinking of martial artists world-wide that he has had.
This book has a singular purpose, the same purpose that Musashi had in everything he did: win. Win at all costs. There is nothing else to do but win. Losing means you die. Losing means oblivion. Losing is falling into the shadow and the utter eradication of your existence."
"Setting down his thoughts on swordplay, strategies for winning, and spiritual philosophy, legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi expected his book to train samurai. Now in the tradition of The Art of War, it is read by people in all walks of life."

However the book I bought is incredibly frustrating to read due to an assortment of misspellings. Really really annoying. They say “week” instead of “weak”, “give” instead of “five” and “wel” instead of “well”. ALL OF THIS WAS WITHIN A PAGE AND A HALF.
Makes what should be an amazingly insightful book very hard to read.
It also has loads of spelling/grammar errors.
It is compelling though which makes me want to read the real/full book.
