The Harry Bosch books are my favorite books ever, so I have high standards when it comes to this show. And my standards have been met with Season 3. Titus Welliver is captivating (I really tried to make this season last, but I watched all the episodes in less than 24 hours with a good night's sleep in between). I can't look away when he is on screen. Also giving an excellent performance this season is Jamie Hector as Bosch's partner Jerry Edgar.

I hope Amazon continues with this show. I would like to see more episodes!

Season 3 of Bosch is the best so far
Verified purchase
Amazon Studios deserves significant recognition and praise for demonstrating the creative potential of streaming. Season 3 of Bosch is the best so far. We've often told friends that "the best show on television, isn't on TV--it's on Amazon."

Calling this a "cop-show" is sort of like saying that Raymond Chandler wrote detective stories. While it's certainly a police procedural, and can be enjoyed as such--but it's also an exploration of complex characters and flawed human beings. What are the impacts of our childhood on the adults we become? How can we be better parents for our own children? How do we all deal with tough choices of right and wrong--especially in a world where things are so often reduced to left or right.

In short, Bosch is a television show for "grown folks" as my father would have said. In a single word, "Amazing."

Watch it. Devour it. And whatever you do, appreciate it like the treasure that it is.

LA noir at its finest

This is the fix all Michael Connelly fans have been waiting for. Compelling from the opening credits to the endnotes. This is THE detective show, the essence of LA noir not seen since the likes of Raymond Chandler and Dashiel Hammet. It just doesn't get better than this.

Great Series

I admit it...I'm a Bosch junkie. Season 3 was like seeing family again.

I enjoyed the plot and, of course, the acting. Titus Welliver has Harry down pat and Jamie Hector trully came into his own this season.

Outstanding. Hopefully, there will be a Season 4.

Too much of the same

Just finished watching season 3. Not horrible by any means, but it's starting to feel too 'familiar' with same plot devices used again. The writers took the serial killer idea from season 1 and shifted it down to be B/C plot. They took the cop shot plot of season 2 and shifted it to the B plot. I vaguely remember reading the book this is based on and in the book the reader was kept guessing about whether or not Bosch was being set up or if he had done the deed (at least for a while). Not so in the tv series, it's apparent that someone is setting him up and you're just waiting for the other characters to see through the set up. It's nowhere near the unwatchability of the High Castle nonsense, but definitely feels like the quality has gone down. Previous seasons I would watch an episode then I would think about it for a few days before watching the next one. Here there was almost nothing to think about, the plot was simply moving to the inevitable conclusion.

The product placements were really, really cringe-worthy. I was waiting for Bosch to ask Crate about which K Cup (R) is the best, or J Edgar to ask his son why he really likes Rosetta Stone (R) brand language learning programs. Gotta make the $ somehow I guess.

Not just the best on Amazon or streaming, but the best tv series
Verified purchase
Another great season of Bosch. One thing that keeps it fresh for me is that even though it's at it's heart a police drama, it doesn't feel repetitive like many of them do.

There are a few stories happening in this season. One has to do with another detective going after Bosch because he believes he's dirty. The main one is a group of ex special forces soldiers who've murdered others to keep their secret safe about stealing cash from the war zone. There's also the Koreatown Killer running around and more going on with whether Irving wants to become chief on a permanent basis. Oh yeah, Bosch's daughter is living with him now, too!

Perhaps the best story this season, was the development of J. Edgar, Bosch's partner (played by Jamie Hector). There was more development of him and more tension between the two. I think highlighting the differences between the two and showing what makes each of them tick made for keeping the show's quality up.

One thing that I'm glad about is that Amazon is finally pushing this series. Maybe it'll start getting the attention deserves.

As goes the painting, so goes the plot

This series is great practice for self dicipline. Each episode ends with so many tantalizing loose ends it's a wonder the sweater hasn't returned to the sheep's back. The temptation to watch the entire season in one go is almost too strong. Resist if you can as there is too much to absorb in overly large draughts.
The ensemble of characters mesh - and grind - with such precision and power the viewer is never expected to overlook implausability or a writer's lack of rigor. This is tight, talented, and captivating entertainment. Thanks to the entire production company.
It has been a pleasure following the multiple storylines of this series. I have especially enjoyed watching Maddy grow up nudged by the ripples of her father's work. There is a J.K. Rowling maturation of the installments that gives the plot a sheen of reality seldom seen in American video.
Please keep this going. There is too much left untold.
