Review

Business is changing, and it's changing fast! In fact, in the healthcare world that I live in, change is happening so quickly that there is a general sense of panic. Recently I've had the opportunity to work in the area of strategy and innovation for the largest health care systems in the country. This experience taught me that the old government like bureaucracy that we have created in our businesses must give way to a fast and fluid business model. Regrettably, however, most organizations will become irrelevant before they realize just how toxic and slow their businesses have become. As an innovator, physician, and surgeon I have had the great opportunity to meld the benefits of proven diagnostic and treatment pathways with the process of developing proven business processes that deliver measurable results. Having worked with Nicholas on a massive innovation initiative, I learned that you must take a linear approach towards business and innovation strategy. His approach paralleled the successful approaches we have used in healthcare for decades to diagnose, treat, and ultimately save the lives of millions. So if these life-and-death systems work, why not apply them to our enterprises to deliver predictable, almost clinical, results? Breakers is a book about first doing no harm! But it's also a book about how you can develop better future insights about market factors that will affect your future success. It's about developing an intelligent and proven system that's consistent with the innovation-driven economy that is operated by millennial talent. As a physician, I'm in the business of achieving clinical results that are often a matter of life and death. I'm not interested in theories and concepts. My patients demand results. This book is about delivering the life-and-death benefits that deliver predictable strategic and innovation results.
