First, you need to fill it up with water. But try to fill it up half way, to keep it soft for baby tummy. I was honestly worrying this mat would leak easily. Well, upon trying this mat, and my baby using it for several days already, I feel relieved, it did not leak any drop of water so far. My baby seems to have a blast trying to capture little toys floating in this mat. Yesterday she spent hours playing on it. I love how nicely this mat was designed. Colors are very bold and bright. Baby friendly design definitely if you ask me. Calming sounds of water in the mat, nice and soft mat, I just love this mat so much, I sure will order another one. Also, the lowest price I could find anywhere online! Great job guys!
