This book needs some major help. There was almost no world building, just a couple of comments about a couple of packs. There was very little character development, relying on vignettes of the past to give insight rather than current growth. The relationship building was mostly the same.... the majority took place off page in the past with only the smallest bit happening currently. The plot sounded interesting in the blurb (otherwise I wouldn't have read it), but the executing was lacking. The conflict resolution was incredibly anticlimactic and poorly written. Honestly, I'm peeved that I wasted my time on this book.

I mean, two of the best RH authors out there getting together for a co-write and of course it's going to be brilliant! A fantastically written stand alone rejected mates romance..... Beautiful broken omega Teegan has lived through years of abusive hell at the hands of the pack Alpha and with the full knowledge of her father. So when she attends the full moon mating ceremony and finds out who her mates are, the only thing she can do to save them and to save herself is to reject them.
I have to say, what I love about this book is that it really works, it's dark - it covers abuse - it's really heartbreaking - I cried - it's written so well that when they were experiencing high emotions so was I and that shows how invested in the characters I was. When Teegan arrives on reject island she comes face to face with an old friend, and ends up living with a completely hilarious woman who is just unique, and uniquely funny!
It kind of has a bit of everything and often that really doesn't work, but I guess when you get two amazing authors like Ann and Katie then heck yes it works!!!
Brilliant standalone. Absolutely loved reading it.

I enjoyed reading this story, I was a bit concerned that it might be too dark but it was well written and whilst some parts touched on abuse I felt it didn't go into too much detail or string it out for pages and so I was able to get through it and still enjoy the overall story. I think the idea of Reject Island was great and I love Claire. I also liked the epilogue which tied up the story nicely.
