Brother Inkvestment Ink

More reasonably priced ink is a great idea. The problem is that the cartridges don't seem to last anywhere near the expected page count. Yes, I know all about how estimates are for 5% coverage. However, the printer can go through a set of cartridges in just a few cleaning cycles. Immediately after purchasing my first set of full capacity cartridges, somehow my nozzles were clogged. In clearing the nozzles, in about an hour, the color carts went to about 10%. I will give Brother credit, they sent me a new set. But even since then I'm going through the carts much faster than I expect, even accounting for prints covering more than 5% of the page. I could be wrong on this, but the cleaning issue IS a problem. And the printer automatically cleans the heads on a schedule of some kind which seems kind of aggressive, presumably to make sure they don't clog. I'm guessing a lot of ink is lost in those cleanings.
I also find the colors somewhat dull, at least compared to my 10+ year old HP inkjet.
I'm a long time Brother fan having bought 7 printers and recommended many more, and this printer and the associated ink is clearly the least good of the lot.
