A brilliantly dark and humorous masterpiece!

Brothers’ Nest is one of those hidden gems that is sure to gain a cult following. Be warned, it’s not for the faint of heart- it’s violently dark and darkly funny.

What’s it about? Terry and Jeff are plotting their step-father’s demise as he is set to acquire their mother’s house once she passes from terminal cancer. There’s dark underlying humor that occurs as the two work on Jeff’s to-do list for the murder. Jeff is a bit anal retentive and thinks Rodger has done him wrong, while Terry isn’t fully convinced but follows his brother anyways, resulting in problems along the way. As the film progresses, it spirals into a tunnel of darkness that works. The majority of the movie takes place inside their childhood home. The emotional scenes are done in a way that is touching and sad, but never sappy. The disturbing scenes, well, they are disturbing. There are a couple things left unanswered but in the grand scheme, it doesn’t matter (you learn just enough to fill in the blanks or make your own assumptions). The cast was fantastic.

Overall I highly recommend. I doubt this will win points with the average movie watcher, but you should def give it a chance.

“Ice junkies seem to have a thing for box cutters.”
“It’s just family sh*t”.
“Like the Romans.”

Parental guidance/trigger warnings: Due to spoilers, leaving it at it contains mature themes, violence, and disturbing scenes. You’ve been warned.

Australia’s “Fargo” gets 5 stars

i Can’t believe there’s only one review for this film. Really strong writing and acting here, superb directing. The pace is great and the ending is just right. Wish we could get more films like this.

If you loved Fargo and wish you could experience it for the first time again, you can. Rent “Brother’s Nest.”

Extremely mediocre

Extremely mediocre (and depressing). Also, as others have said, this is not a comedy. It's actually quite disturbing... and not in a "dark comedy" sort of way. The trailer makes the film look much more engaging than it is (the best of the film is really just in that two-minute trailer, unfortunately).

Good Watch

FIrst of this is not a comedy in any way whatsoever. However it is a very entertaining film and worth watching. I won't spoil it but the tension slowly builds to a great climax.

caught me off guard how fantastic it was

An excellent pitch black comedic thriller, bone dry humor coupled with extremely witty dialog that simply crackles. If I had seen this one last year it would have most definitely broke into my Top 10.

A good black comedy, of sorts. Not a prize winner but worth the watch.
