GAC and KDF Filter Remove Carbon and Prevent Bacteria, Fungus and Mold Growth
Our filter uses a KDF Fluid Treatment to remove chemicals that give unpleasant odors and tastes to water. KDF also prevents the growth of fungus, bacteria and mold when the filter is not in use. When first attaching the filter to your water source, allow the water to run free for a few minutes to flush the initial loose carbon out of the filter. When the water runs clear, the filter is ready for use!
Wide Body Inline Design Increases Flow Rate
Camco's TastePURE water filter attaches to your water hose, for easy, quick access to cleaner, great-tasting drinking water. Our water filter stays aligned with your water hose during use and has a wide body for higher capacity and flow rate!

Ground water is NASTY at most campgrounds. You're probably smart and don't drink the water from your faucet anyway (buy a case of bottled water at Sams or Costco for $4 and know you aren't drinking parasites). BUT, in the event you want to cook or do like I do and accidentally drink water in the shower or while brushing your teeth, the safety reason, alone, is good enough to buy these.
Couple of helpful suggestions:
-I always place these right on the spigot at the campground, then attach my hose, which attaches to the trailer. I've seen others attached the hose, run to the trailer, then have the filter hang off the back of the trailer. Either way works.
-Buy a Camco 90 degree elbow to attach your hose to the camper. It's about $4 and keeps your hose from kinking from gravity pulling on the hose since it screws in perpendicular to the trailer. The elbow sticks out of the water inlet, then turns at a 90 degree angle, allowing your hose to connect to the trailer with no stress on the hose. This will extend the life of your hose. I use these Camco elbows on my home washer as well to lessen the stress on those hoses.
-Buy a 30-50 PSI regulator for your hose. Heck, buy two. Attach this either at the trailer or the spigot (either way). I learned the hard way a couple of summers ago while I left the campground, only to have the water pressure too high for my camper, and a water line came loose and sprayed all over the camper. After you are done camping, rinse the nastiness out of the regulator. I'm always amazed at the gunk that's in the screen on the pressure regulator. It's easy to wash out right after camping vs. trying to get the crud out while dried up.
-When you leave your camper for a day trip, etc., always turn off the water at the spigot. You don't need what happened to me (above) happening to you (you should turn the water off to your clothes washer while you're gone, too). Or call me a freak and ignore this.
These filters are about $15-20 each at any store. Buy them on Amazon for a lot less. Use one for an entire season. Keep the caps while in use, so you can cap the filter while not in use (to keep bugs, etc. out). I DO drain the filter, then shake it, then leave it sitting upright so water can run out after each use.
One trick we discovered: We found that we still have a sulpher smell after several hours of not using water. After running water for a few minutes the smell went away. We suspect that the sulpher percolates to the "top" of the water chain - meaning, our RV is the highest point on the property so since sulpher in this form is a gas, it tends to go to the top. The Answer is to either run the water for a few minutes each time, or use water bottles and fill them up after someone takes a shower each day. This works really well for us.
There are other brands out there, but we've determined that the more expensive ones don't work better than these do. There are bigger versions from other brands, but far more expensive. These provide enough flow to allow us to take showers just like they weren't there. Additionally, since we live in our RV full time, we go through these fairly quickly.
- Work like they are supposed to.
- Last reasonably long depending on current water quality. 1 - 3 months if using every day.
- Will remove strange smells if used as noted above.
- Versatile and easy to install.
- Have bought many from different sources and they all worked - not one bad unit.
- Flow is not restricted enough to notice.
- One is often not enough for bad water. (Common with other brands too).
Also one of the filters developed two pin hole leaks, after two weeks, this was used on a low pressure supply approximately 40 psi.
I wonder with all these good reviews,if anyone actually tests their water.

On a different note, I have absolutely no idea if these are good drinking water filters for your RV - sorry about that :)
The small downside is a loss of water pressure, but I'd rather have cleaner water. If you are using it to fill your potable tank, there is no downside except a slightly longer fill time. Connect: Town water supply>pressure regulator>potable hose>filter>stubby potable hose>water tank fill or town water connection>RV or Boat.
to wash my car. Output is just fine and water leaves no water spots. Just the right size for my need.
