The discs come in a plastic and cardboard folding contraption. The discs play fine.

Great female actors in this series but the main protagonist, Arthur, is a bit of a dweeb, a wimp with pencil thick arms and big ears. There isn't a lot of common sense in this series. It's all about parties, dancing and weddings, meanwhile the land is not united and is embroiled in chaos. Bandits take over Guinevere's house but Arthur and his crowd just let them have it. This series makes World Without End, which is a so-so miniseries, look good. The Pillars of the Earth is much better and so are Reign and The Tudors. Two current series that are also better are The Vikings and The Last Kingdom. Camelot is at the bottom of the heap.

If the above don’t sound interesting you might like a couple of space race shows. I spent a month on a space race binge. First I read Space by James A. Michener. Then I watched two movies, The Right Stuff (1983) and Apollo 13 (1995), and then two great series, From Earth to the Moon (1998) and The Astronauts Wives Club (2015). They’re a great combination.

If the above shows don’t sound interesting here are a few of the series I really enjoyed watching more than once. I love good miniseries like Band of Brothers (2001), Frank Herbert’s Dune (2000), Into the West (2005), Lonesome Dove (1989), Pride and Prejudice (1995), Taken (2002) and The 10th Kingdom (2000) because they have beginnings, middles and endings, like a good novel.

Other shows I’ve really enjoyed include Battlestar Galactica (2004-2009), Breaking Bad (2008-2013), Cowboy Bebop (1998), Downton Abbey (2010-2015), Firefly (2002), Game of Thrones (2011-2019), The IT Crowd (2006-2013), Jericho (2006-2008), Lost (2004-2010), Merlin (2008-2012), Rome (2005-2007), Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (2011), Spartacus: Blood and Sand (2010), Stargate: SG-1 (1997-2007), Stargate: Atlantis (2004-2009), Star Trek The Original Series (1966-1969) and Star Trek Voyager (1995-2001). I didn’t list any contemporary series I’m following that don’t have an end date yet, not conducive to binge watching from beginning to finish, or the hundreds of other fantasy and science fiction shows I’ve watched.

If you like reading try some of my favorite fantasy and sci-fi authors: Richard Adams, Palo Bacigulupi, Suzanne Collins, Abe Evergreen, Diana Gabaldon, Hugh Howey, George Martin, Brandon Sanderson, John Scalzi, and Andy Weir.

1.0 out of 5 stars-1 star for gratuitous sex & nudity, plus an I for incomplete. Cannot recommend.

I really wanted to like this, but I should have known they'd load it up with soft core porn. Sure, Eva Green is easy on the eyes, but she's better than this, so is much of the rest of the cast, except for those who are MIScast, like the kid they got to play Arthur. That was the best they could do? Maybe they blew the budget on Eva Green and simply couldn't afford a better Arthur. Another reason this doesn't deserve recommendation is the fact that it was canceled, so really, even if you do care for the show, it's just a big tease. I wish streaming services would quit padding their content inventory with incomplete series like this. It's more than a little annoying. Last but not least, I absolutely despised the liberties they took with Arthurian legend, particularly the Lady in the Lake. I found that to be particularly repugnant, and puts the icing on the cake when I say I cannot recommend this at all. On the other hand, I'd highly recommend saving yourself a lot of time and simply watching John Boorman's classic film "Excalibur" (1981) instead. It's a magnificent telling of the story with an outstanding cast, including a young Liam Neeson, Helen Mirren, Patrick Stewart, and Gabriel Byrne, plus something this thing lacks: an ending.

The worst dvd I have ever bought. It is heavily censored. If you are looking for nudity, you’ll be totally disappointed. The rating for this dvd should be rated as GP. All the boob scene disappeared so it is no longer a sexy show. Eva Green did not show an inch of skin.
King Arthur is stupid and miscasted. The entire 3 disc are an abbreviated version of the TV series and you almost cannot follow thru.

3.0 out of 5 starsA little strange
Verified purchase
At only $5.00 for the whole season it was a good deal. It's a little bizarre though to see an African man standing next to Arthur. No Englishman would have ever tolerated an African person in their lands. It just wouldn't happen. Those people would have been slaughtered on the spot. Especially since what happened to their neighbors, the Spanish. Even the Scots would have cut them down on sight. They were considered the epitome of evil back then by everybody. It took a bit of tolerance to look past here.

Other than that it wasn't so bad. Would have been better if Merlin had had some hair. A shaved head back then would have been seen the same as it was during the Roman times, an insult. Only Roman soldiers and convicts went without hair.

The packaging was nice and clean. Smelled like a new car :)

I was so disappointed they did not complete this series. I just watched King Arthur in the theater yesterday and eeeh gawd it was horrible. Just horrible so I came back to rewatch this series. I loved this series. It was like Tudors met the first 2 seasons of Penny Dreadful (3rd season was terrible). It's a shame they didn't finish this series because the cliff hanger was just errrrrr....frustrating. The costumes, the actors, the intro why oh why. I read somewhere the reason it didn't continue was because they couldn't get all the actors to commit. I'm glad I own this series but so sad I did not see a better conclusion.

I am a fan of fantasy i have read many fantasy books as well as watched series based on fantasies so i thought i would give Camelot a try and wish i had not,the main reason for this is Casting The actor picked to play King Arthur (Jamie Campbell) looks as if he belongs in a magazine modeling mens underwear rather than portraying a king whether it is Arthur or any other King (in all honesty he looks as if he would get his a** handed to him) as for Merlin nothing personal against Joseph Fiennes who portrays him but i feel that an older actor would have been a better choice in wrapping this review up i will say that Eva Green in my opinion is the 1 and only good thing this series had going for it her portrayal of Morgan is great.

2.0 out of 5 starsKing Arthur the Shaggy
Verified purchase
Meet King Arthur and his loyal Scooby-Doo as they shag their way through Arthurian mythology. Arthur shags Guinevere, the wife of Sir Lancelot, er, Leontes. His half-sister Morgan, daughter of the Duke of Cornwall, oh wait, she’s somehow the daughter of King Uther Pendragon and she’s Morgawse married to King Lot as well. And the edgy Merlin with hardly more magical abilities than to maintain his furrowed brow throughout every episode.

Season one gave us a stunted Arthur whose only progress was pulling Excalibur from the stone (that was stupidly placed by Merlin atop a large waterfall) and establishing a castle for governance of Camelot (his sister here rules the actual Pendragon castle, haha).

The remainder of season one is spent on young Arthur taking trivial baby steps learning how to properly govern. There never is any substantive plot progression as though the script writers thought they had at least five seasons guaranteed. The real highlight of this TV show (besides the female beauties) was the soundtrack music.

2.0 out of 5 starsDisappointing Mashup -- Eva Green deserves better
Verified purchase
The best reason to watch this 1-season-wonder is Eva Green. She shines as a jewel in a piece of crap. (Did we REALLY have to see her (or her double) naked?) She smokes the screen with her acting chops as Morgan. The rest of the cast is meh. The two worst casting decisions are Arthur and Guinevere, who resemble a modern-day California surfing couple. Since when has Guinevere EVER been a knife wielding sex-pot? I couldn't help but laugh at the (probably unintentional) reference to Bo Derek in 10 when she emerges onto a pristine beach from the ocean waves. Casting a relative unknown as Arthur was just....dumb. The actor was vapid at best and out-of-place at worst.
