How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsXL black or color is the way to go!!
Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2016
When I bought my Canon MX410 it came with both the PG-210 & the PG-211 cartridges, but when I looked for them at the store, all I found were the XL cartridges. So, I did a little research.
From the "inksmartshopping" website I found this blurb about these cartridges: "What's the difference between PG-210 and PG-210XL?
The Canon PG-210 contains a 9ml of black pigment ink, XL version contains 15ml of ink. So 210XL gives you 66% more ink (15ml vs 9ml). The Canon 210XL cartridge lasts much longer than the simple 210 cartridge. The Black XL sizes give you 82% more pages* for about 35% more price."

PG-210: 9ml, 220 pages*
PG-210XL: 15ml, 401 pages*

The XL cartridges are actually a better deal. I don't use my printer very often and the ink doesn't dry up. When I do use my printer, the actual print seems to be a bit clearer and cleaner, dries quickly on paper and looks professional.

Would I purchase again, yes everytime! I always get Canon's cartridges, I don't get the remanufactured ones. Hope this helps you!

1.0 out of 5 starsTHEY’RE SELLING BARELY FILLED CARTRIDGES! Do not buy!
Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2020
I’ve only been able to print about 50 pages before the cartridge stopped working (and that’s being generous—I think I have only printed 25 pages).

I bought this on April 14th and it took a while to arrive due to the Pandemic—but that’s not the problem, it’s just to give you a sense of time. Today is June 16th and the cartridge stopped working. I’ve barely had this 6 weeks and the ink ran out.

Allow me to assure you that I don’t print a wild amount of paper. I printed one page a day for my kid’s school for three weeks. It was a table with the assignments in each category. Lots of white space. So that was 15 pages. All his other homework was done on a computer and didn’t have to printed.

However, today, when I went to print a USPS click-n-ship label from home, the cartridge just stopped working. I am describing the kinds of things I’m printing so you know I’m not printing out like 15 copies of my first book and then complaining the printer cartridge ran out.

They’re selling refurbished cartridges that have been refilled with just enough ink to work a few times before running out. This is such a scam!

1.0 out of 5 stars XL cartridge had life of 60 pages
Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2017
Style: Canon PG-210 XL Black Ink TankVerified Purchase
I bought the canon XL blank ink tank because it had 4.5 stars and is the model cartridge for my printer. Unfortunately there was only enough ink to print less than 60 pages, which is strange considering this is the XL. I ran out of ink halfway of printing my first document (about 60 pages so 30 pages in). I replaced the cartridge with the canon XL and it began printing flawlessly. I printed a second document (also about 60 pages) and by the 30th, I started getting streaks in my text, making it illegible. Pretty disappointed, considering I had changed the cartridge not even 10 minutes before it ran out. Not sure if this one had barely any ink or it is a defected cartridge. Either way, these definitely are way too expensive at $25 for barely 60 pages.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works as expected, but double the cost of third-party ink tanks that perform just as good
Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2016
Style: Canon PG-210 XL Black Ink TankVerified Purchase
When compared to third-party ink replacements I've found that they are much more affordable and cost effective, which is the reasoning for a 4 star rating. That aside the product does perform as quoted, and gives clear, clean, and crisp prints. But when reviewing a product you cannot leave out the true cost, as that does factor in if the product is truly a good value for customers.

I would happily rate these tanks a 5 if they were more reasonably priced, but sadly name brand ink still refuses to surrender their inflated prices and as such that is my reason behind giving them 4 stars. If competitors can offer the same tank for $5-$10 cheaper why can't canon, or offer a buyback program or something to rewards customers for their loyalty as HP has done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a high yield (XL) color cartridge for a reasonable price.
Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2018
Style: Canon Cl-211Xl High-Yield InkVerified Purchase
The black cartridges I've always been able to buy locally were the high yield or XL versions (in an economical 3 pack, 2 black, one color), however the color were always the standard yield, needing to be replaced way too often compared to the black. This one is high yield at good price so I'm encouraged that it will last much longer.
P.S. I experimented at a big warehouse store with their cartridge refill service. The price was right, and though the cartridge worked, my Canon printer did not recognize that the cartridge had been refilled and continued to show the "low ink" warning light. Just saying.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible product! Buyers beware!

Ridiculous! I just bought this about a week or two ago and only started printing two days ago.. (and mind you I couldn't have printed more than 20 pages of regular text documents).. I can already see the ink fading as if it's starting to run low! How is this supposed to be an XL? I feel so cheated! Will definitely return this because this is terrible!

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed with this cartridge. Leaked!!!!!

Very disappointed with this purchase . When I received this product it appeared to have no issues.(damage,leaks,etc.t .Everything was fine.
I have printed maybe 20 pages in the last 2 weeks. I went to print 2 pages yesterday.i was receiving a low ink warning...opened the printer, took out the cartridge and it seems to have leaked from one of the seams on the side of the cartridge.Which also leaves me with ink inside my printer.
I have had this printer for about 2 years and have installed about 10 cartridges with no leaks or issues, although this is the first one I have purchased on-line.It is the only one a have purchased that is defective.
Not sure if I can return this for a refund or a replacement.i am going to look into it after I send in this review.
I will do some more research and follow up soon.

3.0 out of 5 stars signals low ink when more than half full
Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2010
Style: Canon PG-210 XL Black Ink TankVerified Purchase
These cartridges both black and color start signalling low ink levels when you have used less than half. That means you can get good quality copying and printing for much longer.
NET take out the cartridges, gently shake em up then re-install. You will still get the low ink lights but I've made more than 100 copies after those lights appear. Seems to be a ploy to encourage waste of ink and therefore more sales for the cartridges.

1.0 out of 5 stars New cartridge making a mess of ink
Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2020
Style: Canon PG-210 XL Black Ink TankVerified Purchase
I purchased this cartridge in late August as a backup and didn't install until early October (past Amazon's 30 day return window). Unfortunately, this cartridge is faulty - it is getting ink all over the pages we print. We've tried running our Canon printer's cleaning functions, have tried manually cleaning it with a cue tip, and have run the printer alignment and it's still making a mess of things. This wasn't happening with our last cartridge that I just replaced, so I know it's an issue with the cartridge and not my printer. Better yet, today I tried to call Canon customer service and there is NO customer service - they direct you to set up an account online to even talk with them. I'd just like for a replacement to be sent to me, since this cartridge has never worked right, was nearly $30, and wasn't even purchased that long ago!
