I've been Mp600 printer and Canon ink cartridge user for well over five years. I thought it's about time I give my two cents.
The product never failed to produce bad prints...ever.
Changing cart is so simple..maybe even fun.
Price...no matter how I look it at, it's not cheap to me. Canon made all it's RND money back long ago~
All other cons I can come up is also mostly due to how the printer is intentionally engineered to be so inefficient with ink...
The over engineered cart seems very wasteful because because of this.
Since my old mp600 (even if it is a wasteful ink pig) still going strong and Canon ink cartridge is so~ reliable in its quality, I can't help but recommend it.
BTW, I understand that one of our local Office supply store will give you dollar credit for our empty cart we bring in..every dollar helps right?
I also checked the price this morning my local Office supply store , and yes, Amazon was well over $13 cheaper!!!!
Four star for the ink and ten stars for Amazon.
I gave up on the aftermarket inks years ago. They aren't nothing but problems if they work at all.
Refilling your own tanks usually turns out to be a disaster. If they work at all you are lucky if they don't leak and ruin your printer.
I've had my Pixma MP530 for years. And it still works great. I contribute that to only using OEM inks. And we use this printer pretty hard for a home system.
The best I can say is that it's OEM and it's the cheapest I have found it, and it comes in the mail and I don't have to drive 30 miles to get it at a store that will charge me more for it.
These ink cartridge are very reliable. I've yet to encounter a fail ink cartridge that the printer has to reject
- Ink Usage
At the lowest quality mode, I can print about a ream's worth of paper - double-sided.
- Expensive Ink
These printer cartridges are expensive. My printer uses Cyan CLI-8C , Magenta CLI-8M , Yellow CLI-8Y (also sold as a multipack ), and the two black cartridges PGI-5 , and CLI-8 Black (also sold as a multipack ).
Since my printer uses all of the color ink cartridges at about the same rate even in grayscale mode, the price of ink cartridge replacements can be a lttle steep.
I've never had a problem with the Canon PGI-5 BK Ink Tanks. The main gripe I have is the high price ink cartridge replacements.
So why 4 stars? Well, it's still kind of expensive (they still know they have a monopoly--fill-it-yourself and store brands are not an option; they look horrible--and the price probably could come a little lower). And although Canon inks tend to be fairly priced compared with others and last a long time, lasting a little longer would be nice. But overall, very nice--2 of these 2-packs last me about a year.
