Lauren Rowe is one of those authors that effortlessly combines humour and romance. Her comedic timing is always on point, her books never fail to make me laugh, but more importantly they never fail to make me fall in love and Captain is no different.

Although Captain can be read as a standalone, I personally loved the fact that all the characters from past books in this connected series made their presence well and truly felt and it is this sense of family that made this book all the more entertaining and heart-warming.

Lauren Rowe has this innate ability to create real, likeable, relatable characters that take pleasure in drawing the reader in from the very beginning and making them feel a part of the story as a whole. It is this feeling of living and breathing the story that is testament to Lauren Rowe’s writing ability and her inherent talent of nailing character connection, on point dialogue, mastering emotion and building perfect storylines that are engaging, all-consuming, smile inducing and make your heart fit to burst.

Captain/Rum Cake/Captain Morgan/Bacardi aka Ryan Morgan is a man that will melt the hardest of hearts. His personality is infectious, his heart his huge and he loves fierce. Alpha, extremely protective, totally adorable this is a man that you cannot help but take into your heart. Yes, this is insta love, but the Morgans seem to have a genetic trait in love at first sight. A chance meeting, an instant attraction, deep conversation and then it all goes to s***. With very little information to go on, the lengths that Ryan goes to, to find his soulmate is stuff that lifetime movies are made from.

“My name is Ryan Ulysses Morgan, sweetheart,” he says, his voice low and intense. “Captain Morgan. And trust me, baby, you’re not only gonna know my name before the night is through, you’ll be screaming it at the top of your lungs.”

I am not going to mention the name of our heroine because I want that to be revealed to you as it was to me. I loved that she had a heart of gold, was soft in all the right places and yet was fierce when needed. Her outlook on love was tainted and her propensity to trust was non-existent but she was incredibly loyal, her personality infectious and while on the outside she seemed quiet and reserved, the inner minx was just waiting to be unleashed and boy did Ryan unleash it.

“I just realized I’m a truly horrible person. I don’t respect you at all, not even a little bit—which means I’m using you for nothing but sex. If our genders were reversed, I’d disgust myself.”

This book was utter perfection, I loved everything about it and everything it stood for. That initial instant attraction, the love hate, that constant battle to fight the magnetic pull that these two had, the little glimpses, the dialogue and intense chemistry especially between the sheets…. scorching! The sense of family whether you are blood or not was prevalent throughout, the interactions, the camaraderie the abundance of love was infectious. This was a real feel good read and at the end…all I had was a huge smile and an incredibly warm heart. Once again, Lauren Rowe nailed it.

I've been waiting to read Captain for a while. And happy to say it has surpassed my every expectation.

This story is about Captain Morgan; aka Ryan Ulysses Morgan; My Rum Cake; aka the man who stole my heart and made me swoon on multiple occasions throughout this entire novel.
I've always been intrigued my Ryan ever since he was introduced in the Club series. (bee-tee-dubs, Captain is a standalone with no prior reading required. That said, I still strongly suggest you read all the other books in the Club world - you can thank me later!)
Ryan, second oldest of the Morgan clan, the family "fixer". He's more than just his pretty boy looks and panty combusting charm, he's intelligent, passionate and oh so big-hearted it'll make you melt.
Ryan's tired of meaningless relationships and ready for the real deal.

Enter... T-Rod; aka Theresa Rodriguez; aka Tessa, who I totally wanna be friends with. I swear we're kindred spirits!
She's gorgeous, smart, ambitious and hilarious! But she's been really unlucky in love; betrayed by someone she thought cared for her deeply, which has made her not only lose trust in men, but in herself, too.

By a series of serendipitous events, Ryan and Tessa meet in a bar, get to talking and immediately feel an undeniable connection and attraction like they've never experienced before.

To be honest, the enemies to lovers trope hasn't really been my cup of tea in the past. And now I know why: because it's never been done the right way - the Rowe way, if you will.
Seriously, I loved every second of reading this book. I was eating it up Cookie-Monster-Style while simultaneously telling myself to calm the hell down and just enjoy it slowly.

Now, let's talk about the Morgans, shall we?
Never have I wanted to live in a fictional world or be a part of a fictional family more than in this book.
I absolutely loved them - everyone of them. Please, adopt me!!!

In my eyes, this book was perfection. My book-loving heart's dream come true!!!
It had everything I crave in a sexy romance book and more - waaay more! All the feels!!
It was smoking H-O-T, hilarious and tugged at my heart strings!!

In case I haven't made my love and adoration for this book abundantly clear. Let me reiterate: I freaking loved this book!!!
Without a doubt, an all time favorite that'll stay in my heart forever.

I am quite liking this series, I think the fact that the Morgan family are easily relatable in that the siblings rib each other mercilessly but ultimately only want the best for each other.

This book focuses on Ryan Morgan (aka Rum Cake/Captain Morgan) and Tessa (T-Rod).

Tessa is PA to Josh who is getting married to the one and only Kat Morgan.

A chance meeting at a bar sees our Captain falls hook, line and sinker (sorry I couldn’t help myself) for ‘Samantha’ who is on a night out with her bestie Charlotte dressed as a flight attendant. Guess who ‘Samantha’ really is…

The pterodactyl ex Olivia shows up when Captain and Samantha are about to truth-bomb each other, ruining Ryan’s chance with Samantha, the latter flees the bar convinced he’s just another cheating barsteward.

Kat and Josh are getting married in Maui… what are the chances?

I enjoyed this read and it made me laugh and the spicy scenes deliciously so!

So I read Hero by Lauren Rowe and I enjoyed that one I rated it 4 stars and true to what I said in that review I was going to end up reading all of them and this is me starting!

This one follows Ryan and Tessa and their relationship I think that’s as simple as it is, a nice romantic journey with some struggles is the perfect way to describe this plot.

Ryan was described many times as a sweetheart although that was mostly by his family. Ryan was super passionate when it came to his search for Samantha before he knew she was Tessa. I really did love that despite what Olivia did he was still willing to find Tessa and set her straight and be with her.

Tessa I loved her, she seemed so shy and then when you see her in her element which is working as Josh’s personal assistant she really comes alive in her job. I loved how focused she was in her job and she really just wanted them to succeed. I think the way she manages to get everyone falling in love with her is hilarious.

Tessa and Ryan their first meeting was so funny and cute and actually, I loved how nerdy it was especially when they begin talking about powerpoints it was really cute and I loved it! There were a few moments in this book that made me laugh out loud.

I think the main thing about this book I really loved was family. As it was Kat and Josh’s wedding we see the whole Morgan family and I loved that. They all teased each other and they all supported each other, I also loved Colby appearing in this book especially as I did read Hero. I think even out of the whole Morgan family Kat has to be my favourite, she was so cunning and the way she figured it out and that Tessa was really the Samantha that Ryan was searching for. I loved it. The whole family were just really supportive and you are truly sucked into this family and I love it!

The ending was really cute, the whole powerpoint presentation thing comes back away and it was honestly the perfect way to describe Tessa and Ryan!

I loved the writing, I loved the plot and characters! It was perfect onto the next one!

Ryan was completely over the top in his instalove for Tessa, but so cute with it. Tessa’s mind is blown when she first meets Ryan and then it all comes crashing down. The misunderstandings were predictable, but that didn’t take away from the story. Ryan knows exactly who he wants and does everything in his power to get her. Sometimes too much! Tessa is rightly wary after what she thought she knew about Ryan and her past experiences just make everything worse. Ryan is hot, smart, loyal and funny. Tessa is strong, confident, beautiful and cautious. I loved the inclusion of all the family and the banter between them. The nickname thing got a bit confusing at times trying to remember who everyone was, but it helped to show the family dynamic. This book made me smile. It was funny, hot and heartwarming and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

'm bursting with happiness, grinning like a fool & basically in a state of absolute bliss having just finished CAPTAIN by the super talented Lauren Rowe. From start to finish I have laughed, snorted, sighed, shouted & flat out panted my way through this book. Oh, ladies let me tell you about Captain Ryan Morgan. The front cover paints the perfect pic & truly this man is what my Ultimate Book Boyfriend looks like. He's the whole shabang & gawd could I spend an eternity exploring this perfectly sculpted body. Inch by inch. But hold your horses, because that's not all... He is so much more than top draw eye candy, this man is loving, passionate, caring & so damn loyal it's ridiculous - I really could spend the same eternal time exploring his tender heart & beautiful soul too.

He is the Captain of the Morgan clan & oh how I love his role in this crazy beautiful family. Raised by the BEST momma & surrounded by such life affirming love his whole life, he is a man not scared to show his feelings for those that mean the most. He isn't afraid to show vulnerability or bare his soul which I adored. There is nothing sexier than a pure alpha being confident in the man on the inside as well as the outside.

Now you need to meet T-Rod aka Tessa. This girl could be my spirit sister, because our stars align perfectly & oh how I love her quirky traits. She is feisty, sexy & super smart, loyal to a fault & a good bit stubborn. She's had her heart broken & isn't in rush to repeat that, so up comes the walls & defense mechanisms come into force & boy does this girl know how to dig her heals in.

However, once you peel back the layers, there is wanton lil creature waiting to explode & hell did I love her hard. I loved her passion, her sexuality & how she went against her inner conscious to throw caution to wind & live in the moment. I loved her hard, flaws & all. Her inner battle against her insecurities & her inner crazy was super endearing & made her so much more real & oh so perfect.

How were the feels & storyline?

Captain is like like sunshine on a rainy day.- it made my heart soar & my soul smile. I loved how their passionate journey of instalove / instahate played out. From the moment, they drew the battle lines & threw themselves into winning sed war, they owned me. The banter was hilarious, with some truly classic one liners & don't get me started on the sexual tension - because seriously, I'm talking combustible panties, exploding ovaries & cold showers ..

I loved the way their relationship developed. As the whole story unfolded it was like unwrapping two special bundles at Christmas. Because even though they hated with such raw passion & desire, it was only when their hearts opened & souls were bared, could I see the real beauty in how they gave love but received it too. Sigghhh talk about gooey & beautiful.

How was the writing?

In true Lauren style she whisked me away to place I never wanted to leave. She has the ability to make me FEEL like I'm right there in among it all, loving & laughing with every single character, for it's not just the main Stars that lead this book, it’s the role of all the side characters too, that are written so damned well, that you can't picture the book without them. They add depth, beauty & some very special tender moments that tugged on my heart big style.

The Morgan Family is my ULTIMATE FANTASY FAMILY. I seriously want to marry into this crazy crew. Omgah they are infectious in so many wonderful beautiful ways. I love how Lauren has developed these and has truly made each one of them truly unique, letting their personalities shine bright. But if that wasn't enough I got the whole crew I’ve come to love, all showing me sides I'd not seen before, adding more colour & magic to an already spectacular read. For me it was like going home.

Would I recommend it to my Bestie??

Erm I've already recommended it lol. Yes. Captain is a book you can lose yourself in so easily & effortlessly. It's laughter & loving in the best of ways. Even though it is a standalone, I’d say why not read about some of the other characters I know you are going to fall in love with in this story!!! They are SPECTACULAR.
