This Upbeat Series Proves That Life Begins at 50, Again!

I wasn’t 100% sold on this show after watching the pilot. However, after viewing the second episode, I knew for sure.

To quote Carol, “Ladies and gentlemen, Mama’s got a zebra”! I LOVE IT! Carol (Patricia Heaton) has an upbeat, never quit attitude that makes you want to both root her on and try to find a best friend just like her!

With the seriousness of the world pressing in so much recently, this show is a Godsend. Goodbye stress and anxiety and Hello Carol!

Being in roughly the same age demographic I can totally relate to her and her new lease on life by changing careers.

Dennis the nurse is another favorite. His acting is spectacular in its deadpan delivery. While a few of the other actors seemed to start off a little shaky in their characters’ roles, they all found their strengths and made the show a delight!

While I have purchased an episode or so from other tv shows, I couldn’t help but buy the entire 1st season of this show.

Now we know; Life begins at 50. Again. Well, at least if you want it to!

I've never seen Patricia Heaton in something this dreadful
Carol's Second Act won't last two seasons, if it gets renewed at all. Terrible writing, and the supporting cast is a joke (and not in a good way). Not even Kyle Mclachlan has anything to work with. I gave this show 4 episodes, and didn't laugh once (I let the canned audience do it for me). Maybe they knew something, and wouldn't let a live audience view it. I can tell you I got real tired of the "white racism" (Stupid white people. That's comedy! One time there were two of these jokes within 3 minutes of each other), and the ageism directed at Ms. Heaton. Cheap. I'm assuming that's going to be a running thing. Real classy! Oh well, back to Raymond reruns.

I was looking forward to it
I was excited to see Heaton back on TV with a new show.

Then the aggressive laugh track, and flat characters made me think I was watching a scrubs knock-off, from the 1980's.

It feels so forced. Flat, stereotypical and just not good. I am going to give it till the second episode. I have seen shows with a bad pilot retool things before it releases. So I will hold out hope it gets at least a little better.

This is a pre-order
This is pre-order for the up coming new show for Patricia Heaton. New episodes only become available as they are released. The $14.99 is for the entire season that will come out over the broadcast year. So tired of seeing "I was duped" reviews when it should be clear if a show hasn't aired all their episodes (or an episode), it won't be available.

Has Potential
The overbearing laugh track could be dialed back to allow the skit to work on its own. Interesting characters with room to expand. And we can always use more humor during these trying times. Give it a watch.
