1.Loosen the outer screw, lay flat the inside hoop, put the cloth on the hoop, then put the outer hoop on the inside hoop.

2. Flat the cloth, make the warp and the welt both vertical and horizontal, ensure there are no pleats

3. Tighten the screws.

4. Inspect the hoop whether it is tight enough. The way to check the tightness is to use a needle with thread going through the fabric surface. It is workable if there is a loudly sound when pulling the thread.

I ordered these bamboo hoops for use in making decorations for a camp retreat. The hoops are beautiful, sturdy and without defect. One thing I realized about these hoops that is preferable to some available in big box craft stores, is that these have no stickers (brand label/diameter size/price/upc) or markings to mar the surface appearance or leave a sticky residue upon removal. The only labeling is on the nice and unexpected ziploc style bag that holds the hoops. (The hoops I purchased at a big box craft store will be returned).

Tight fitting hoops-good quality

I like the quality of Caydo hoops. The bamboo feels sturdy and firm (they are about 4mm thick). The circles fit together without gaps leading to good tension for embroidery. The screws are a little industrial (bright silver with large handles) but are easy to tighten well and never have that blue protective film. I've also never had a single fastener break off in my hands. One hoop in this package was split and splintery even after sanding but 1 out of 12 is a better ratio than usual and more than half needed no sanding whatsoever to use with thin/fine fabric.

The blue film...

For the price these are very good quality. They are sturdy, and I've had no problem working with them. They're not as round as I would have liked, but most of them are serviceable. However, the blue film that covers the metal and is stuck underneath the nut is a big problem. If these were only for personal use I might not care that much, but I bought them with the intent of using them to display cross stitch gifts, and that blue film really has me questioning if I can use them for that. It's annoying to have little shreds of blue film poking out from under the nut. I tried both a razor blade and a pin to remove the film, but those still didn't remove all of it, and they somewhat scratched the metal thus defeating the whole purpose of the protective film in the first place. The stress of trying to remove the film has really gotten to me, and if it wasn't for the film I would have given these a higher rating.

Make great tree ornament frames.

I cross stitched 3-inch stained-glass ornaments (double-sided) from a magazine I got for Christmas from my sister-in-law who knows how cross stich crazy I am. I ordered these to frame them for hanging on the tree. I used fabric glue to hold the fabric pieces together, then put the outer ring on with some red and white cording, so beautiful. I even used the leftover hoops to hold canvas for smaller ornament patterns, they worked great.

I originally purchased 6" hoops, thinking that most of my designs would fit well in them but I found a few smaller patterns that ended up looking very silly with all of the negative space around the outside. I felt that 4" were perfect because smaller images would still look fine. They are easy to use and I do not see much splintering that can come on these.

Some hoops came broken as the were under too much tension and snapped or the screws were tightened too much (I had to unscrew with pliers) that they just cracked. Other than that theyre pretty decent and do what they're made for. Out of the pack of 16 I'd say ~3 were unusable/broken

Very disappointing, these hoops are not round and when you tighten the screw there are gaps all around, these were bought to hold a thin fabric, even tho the fabric is glued in they look awful
