I'm hooked.

I was drawn to this series because I think Dylan Neal is handsome and talented. I saw him in the series he produces with his wife - a series of movies for the Hallmark channel - 'Gourmet Detective.' It is nowhere near as satisfying and engaging as 'Cedar Cove' but I suspect it is not meant to be.

The small-town atmosphere depicted for Cedar Cove is everything you want a small and picturesque town to be. I know plenty of small towns of this fishing/tourist type and they do not match up to this. Cedar Cove is idealized but that is fine with me. I love to dream. Watching this is like cuddling up in front of a warm fire with a glass of wine, when you need to have that wine and those crackling and popping sounds from the fire.

Appreciate that for what it is: a treat.

Cedar Cove Season 1 Episode 2 through 13 picture is distorted/looks like a rally bad bootleg-unwatchable. Season 1 Pilot is fine then remaining episodes are distorted. Season 2 is fine. Amazon should check quality and replace season 1.

If you like Hallmark movies
Verified purchase
If you like Hallmark movies, you'll love this series based on the bestselling books by Debbie Macomber. The only thing more charming than the town where it is set is the fact that it is based on the real town of Port Orchard, Washington. Even though they didn't film it in Port Orchard, they did film it in the Pacific Northwest. If you listen carefully and know what to listen for, you will catch the background chatter of bald eagles. The characters iin this series are every bit as believable as they are iin the books. They wind up feeling like friends.I recommend both the videos and the books, but you hard to prepare to be entertained for hours because you'll get hooked once you get started .

Girls & guys rave this Debbie Macomber TV series
Verified purchase
Season 2 viewership was high, beginning just as Season 1 DVD was released. It's a cozy view, with small town fun and conflict, drool-producing scenery, & VERY memorable characters. It's Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove, near Seattle, and Hallmark Channel as they pair up to produce a winner for all the family. In a small town, when everyone knows everyone's business, it makes for multi-plot episodes (like the Cedar Cove books.) Books and TV episodes are all different, but closely related, just ask the knitting gals.
My DVD, bought from Amazon, has great picture quality on my 32" widescreen HDTV.

Andie MacDowell is perfection as Judge Olivia Lockhart. Andie's HOT as a mature divorced working woman who knows her own mind. She's not new to film-from-novel work, having been in the Maeve Binchy adaptation of "Tara Road." Warren (Brennan Elliott) is handsome but a greedy developer and certifiable jerk. Sarah Smyth plays Justine, the judge's artistic love-struck daughter. Jack (Dylan Neal) is the paper editor with a heart's flutter for a certain female in a robe. Teryl Rothery, the newly divorced librarian . . . a long list continues, but my favorite is Moon (Timothy Webber) the coffee guy aging in body but mentally lost in the 60s.

CC (Closed Captioning for the hearing impaired) is an option.
1 ~ Pilot --Meet the regulars of Cedar Cove and the relationships--old & new. I experienced lust for the judge's waterfront cottage (which changed for the remaining episodes.)
2 ~ A House Divided --Historic lighthouse redevelopment gets a court date.
3 ~ Reunion --An unidentified man with a stroke and Jack's estranged son story.
4 ~ Suspicious Minds -Local B&B fatally loses a guest.
5 ~ For the Sake of the Children -The episode of divorce and child issues and save the library.
6 ~ Free Spirits -Alaska trip(s) and a significant other weekender.
7 ~ Help Wanted -Judge Lockhart gets approached by an ex-con she sentenced.
8 ~ And the Winner Is... -Activity surrounding the Cedar Cove bachelor auction (charity event for pet adoption) gets hot; and costly.
9 ~ Old Flames, New Sparks -What goes around may come around again when we're talking romance.
10 ~ Conflicts of Interest -Career & health events instigate questions between friendly/romantic ties.
11 ~ Stormfront -A whirwind mixture involving ex's, mistress, dates, separation, and spiraling kisses.
12 ~ A New Life -Of course there is a baby involved in Cedar Cove's Christmas preparations.
13 ~ Homecoming -It's Christmas time--time to see whose stocking are hanging side-by-side over the yule log.

Now, read some Debbie Macomber novels while waiting for the Season 2 DVD. You'll be glad you did.

... of my fav shows of all time and so disappointed no season four
Verified purchase
One of my fav shows of all time and so disappointed no season four. Drawn to the show as have always been an Andie fan AND love living in the pacific NW (took 47 years to get here). Then fell in love with many of the characters on the TV show as written/played because I never read the books (many who did were not happy with the changes made). Just went back and watched season one and two again after viewing all three on Hallmark cable channel. It was fun to go back and find missing "links" to later story lines and realize that the houses used in season one were not used the following two.. plus one minor character change in addition to the two apparent all along (Justine's BF in pilot changed after in season one which was an improvement and Mary Ellen's BF changed in season three which was not). Season one is really a 4.5 (.5 for effort so rounded up); season two a 4 as some of the material two heavy/far fetched; and three was a 5 because more humor was brought in to the story after Sue Tenney took over producing AND I liked the new character brought in that was not in the book).

Loved the books....liked season one
Verified purchase
I have all of the Cedar Cove books and loved them. I liked season one and am getting the rest to watch. I must say, I liked Seth in the pilot episode better. Wonder why they changed? it was a mistake to do so. I love the characters. I do think Charlotte is a little over the top. She wasn't quite that way in the books. But I am trying not to compare it to the books, which are definitely better than the series. Andie is perfect as Olivia and the guy who plays Jack is great as well. It is definitely worth a watch. And I highly recommend the books.

I heard good reviews regarding the show from a friend of mine so I paid for Season 1. I watched the Premier episode, then Season 1, Episode 2 - is a repeat of the Premier. I watched Season 1, Episode 3, but really need to watch Episode 2 to find out what happened - so I clicked on Episode 4 and it is a repeat of Episode 3. Obviously something is wrong. Please fix!
