DON'T BUY CHAMPION GENERATOR--A WORD TO THE EDUCATED CONSUMER
Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2019
I purchased the generator on 10/11/2017, following which a licensed electrical contractor did the necessary work on my home panel to accommodate the generator in the event of future need. Since the date of purchase (10/11/2017), I have never had an occasion to use the generator.
I do run the generator for 20 minutes every five or six weeks, just to make sure the battery is charged and that the generator is functional.
On 7/4/2019, I went into my garage and the was oil leaking from the generator onto the floor
I called the manufacturer at 18773380999, explained my predicament to the tech who volunteered to walk me through possible repair steps. I asked to speak with a supervisor, was transferred to Brian who had already been informed of the generators deficiency.
As per supervisor Brian, my options were the following:
1- fix generator myself with tech help
2- bring in a 202-pound unit to a repair center in either NEW JERSEY or CONNECTICUT, we live in NEW YORK CITY how
you get it there is your business. I explained to Brian, that I am a 68-year-old retiree with no pickup truck or the like.
Brian, was extremely emphatic and disrespectful, not our problem- you purchased the generator and at this price
point, nothing we can do.
Throughout the conversation, Brian continuously was very officious, arrogant, indifferent and could care less.
Brian's demeanor was unacceptable, how Champion hires individuals like Brian is beyond me.
My final thought on this horrible experience- " Brian, WORDS MATTER!!! "
