"An engrossing study of shamanism and how it relates to psychology and everyday life. A unique blending of two very powerful tools." (Lynn Andrews, NY Times Bestselling author of the Medicine Women Series)
"Change Your Story, Change Your Life takes the reader through several shamanic techniques including journeying, fire ceremonies and creating a despacho as well as techniques taken from Jungian tradition, or from a blend of Jungian and shamanic, such as sand painting, working with dreams and dialoguing. Throughout the book the author describes his own experiences and the conclusions he drew, also giving useful examples from his clients. In chapter three methods are explained to explore and work with your current story through writing exercises, moving on to writing your new story in chapter four. The final chapters give guidance on how to apply techniques to ensure you continue to take charge of your story and on how to participate in writing new stories for society." (June Woods, Indie Shaman)
Carl Greer has written a wonderful and compassionate guide for seekers of psychological and spiritual growth. I did wonder why painful circumstances kept repeating themselves in my life.
I was on page 25 when the words and energy of this book uncovered the deep vows I had made as a child..."I will never trust.....for they will always hurt me." When I realized that the things "being done to me" were the outcome of my own unconscious expectations I saw my own "cellular computer chip" in full operation. The moment I "got it", was the moment my life changed...immediately and dramatically.
Dr. Greer is so right, Change Your Story, Change Your Life.

The theme of changing our story is very important. If we keep repeating our version of our life story or significant events - and much of this might come from others perceptions, we stay stuck. A client example that illustrates this is someone who kept telling me that their partner kept telling them that they were useless, pessimistic, a burden etc. I said 'because they said x, that doesn't make it true'. That was the point when they started to make changes in their life. If you have your own stories that keep you stuck in old beliefs or you work with clients that do, this book will open your eyes to some very transformational tools. If you are new to shamanism, trust that it does work as long as you put the work in too. The book is helping me to identify some of my own stories that still need changing. In addition it's supporting me to combine these two approaches in my work. I highly recommend it
