In this futuristic action-adventure, a young man (Tom Holland) must discover his inner power and unlock his planet's dark secrets to save a mysterious girl (Daisy Ridley) who crash-lands on his planet.

Just a bad movie. Good acting by both stars but the plot was really bad; really weak, annoying noise concept that never really developed to anything. And the commercials made it seem like the girl has powers but she has no powers. lol.
A girl crash lands onto a planet into the middle of a colony composed exclusively of men, who all share a mysterious power called the Noise. Sensing danger, she escapes with the help of Todd Hewitt, the youngest member of the all-male community, and a very powerful but novice wielder of the Noise himself, who is not privy to the dark secret that the older men guard.
I am pretty hard to impress when it comes to science fiction movies. I have seen so many of them and they all borrow from one another to some degree. Yet this movie is based on a concept I dare say I have never seen before. The characters are likable and the plot is suspenseful. The biggest negative for me are the production values, which are TV-grade at best, not cinematic. The movie was shot in the very Earth-like Canadian forests. At no time did I feel the action was taking place on a alien world.
All in all, though, I enjoyed the movie, and would recommend it to any SF fan who is looking for something that is off the beaten track.
If it is to set up for a trilogy, it has all the entertaining and exciting elements- action, adventure, sci-fi, and dystopia/post-apocalyptic, though too much is concentrated on the two leading actors, and the other flaw for me is probably I haven't read the books.
Daisy ridely and tom holland both did a great job in this movie. the story is very original the beginning is a little rough but as it progresses it drew me in. I love syfi movies , so I maybe bias. I enjoyed the movie thoroughly and would love to see a sequel. would give anouther half star if I could. I don't understand the negative reviews, but maybe it is a niche movie That some would not like. ( futuristic western type)
That was the worst and most pointless movie I’ve ever watched with the most predictable story in the world. Who thought this movie was a good idea? They should have paid me to watch this rather than me paying to see it.
I was afraid that it would be like my headline says and it pretty much is, with a few exceptions. There really was not that much of a plot. The film seems to just mostly be about the differences between the sexes but in a novel way. Women are victims and men are predators. I can't see the point of making this film beyond making that statement. It's really just a big car chase on horses. Run away and almost get caught and escape and nearly get caught and repeat.
Big re write from the fantastic book series, but entertaining, and very well done especially given the difficulty in creating a fim version of the story where so much occurs in the characters minds. I loved it!
