About Chloe Garner
Chloe Garner acts as the conduit between her dreaming self and the paper (or keyboard, since we live in the future). She writes paranormal, sci-fi, fantasy, and whatever else goes bump in the night. When she's not writing she steeplechases miniature horses and participates in ice cream eating contests. Not really, but she does have a good time making things up. Find her on Twitter as BlenderFiction, on Goodreads and Facebook, or at blenderfiction.wordpress.com.

Simple. Boring, even.
But that's only when you're doing it right.
Unfortunately, Avery and the rest of the crew of the Kingfisher have hit a snag, one in the form of a strange woman living in a hallway ceiling at Installation 23, and from there on out, it seems like they're ever only one jump ahead of the next guy looking to kill them. Increasingly enmeshed in complex politics and missing their blissful ignorance, the crew of the Kingfisher are going to have to make some hard decisions about what role they really want to play in galactic events, and just how far from their mundane world of weapons smuggling they're willing to venture.
Climb aboard. The flight of the Kingfisher is about to begin.
Valerie grew up a normal girl. In high school, she was popular, smart, happy.
But all that changes when her mother's former life - a life kept hidden from Valerie - collides into Valerie's reality.
Forced to walk away from everything she's always known, Valerie finds herself in a magic school where she may be protected, but she certainly isn't liked.
Facing classmates who resent her for being there and a faculty who are caught up in the same secret war that threatened her mother, Valerie is going to have to flourish or perish in her new reality.

Her mom lied to her about magic. Her best friend lied to her about not being a spy. Her dad... Well, that's too much lie to put into a single accusation.
And Valerie is about to discover that she hasn't seen anything yet.
Welcome back to second semester at The School of Magic Survival. Valerie survived first semester - barely - and everyone is slowly adapting to who she is and what she's capable of. Understandably, Valerie has trust issues with everyone around her - save loyal roommate Sasha - but she's going to have to figure out who she does trust and who she doesn't trust, and fast, because in a world where nothing is ever what it seems, she's about to discover that she's still wrong about all of it.

This was supposed to be how it ended.
But the problems at Shadow School just keep getting tougher.
After a summer abroad, so to speak, Valerie is head back to school for her final year. With troubling news from her mom and no new plan on the horizon for after graduation, Valerie and the crew have a tough road ahead of them, dealing with increasing Pure violence and the ever-present threat from the Council.
With two very different callings on the table and the specter of everything changing in the near future, the Shadow world isn't the only thing that's unsettled. Valerie has a lot of decisions to make, and they're going to be crucial to her life after school and the fate of the Shadows.
Can she pull it together for one more year and come out of Survival School a survivor?

They weathered their first semester, but nothing is getting easier. Valerie's stretched thin trying to balance all of her responsibilities as student body president, head of a student team, and the overload of classes she inevitably signs up for, but nothing can prepare her for the deception, manipulation, and loss she's going to go through this semester.
Ethan's got a tough road coming, too. Normally, he can just make it all up as he goes along and everything turns out fine, but this semester, he's going to have to put up or shut up, living up to the leadership potential he was always supposed to grow into.
The whole gang is back, the school is filled to bursting, and trouble is coming from every expected direction, as well as a few unexpected ones. Welcome back to Shadow School!
No longer willing to go along with the Council, and having struck a significant blow against the Superiors, Valerie, Ethan, Sasha, Lady Harrington and the rest are declaring independence on behalf of Survival School. They've had the summer to prepare and are now opening for business, but there's no way this is going to go easy. The Council aren't going to let them go in peace. The Superiors aren't going away any time soon, either. What's worse than either is the conflict within the halls of Survival School itself.
Survival School is now a home for both returning Council students and new Pure students, students who have sisters and brothers who are still waging a war against each other, and now there's a very real threat that fight will spill into the school.
Can Valerie and her friends find a way to bring everyone together before they hurt each other? Can they withstand attacks from both sides in the meantime? And can Valerie keep out of trouble long enough to be around to be there when it happens?
Well. Maybe, maybe not, but either way, it's going to be one heck of a semester.

But Verona is the one place she swore she'd never return.
The crew of the Kingfisher is ready to go live under the radar again. There is quite a decent life to be had, if you're a good smuggler, and Monte is better than good. The problem is that Carbon has been contacted by Bosh, a man from her old life, claiming that her home system is under attack. That her people aren't going to survive without - and probably even with - her help. Avery think's it's a trap, and Monte certainly doesn't trust Bosh. Savannah can't even figure out what war Bosh is talking about. But Carbon feels compelled by the call to protect her home and now, trap or not, the crew of the Kingfisher is heading into danger.
Bosh may have built Carbon into a human weapon, and there's no doubt the man is good at what he does, but if he underestimates the crew of the Kingfisher they might yet win his game.
Lock and load. The crew of the Kingfisher is headed to war.
Welcome back for the final semester of Shadow School.
Three and a half years ago Valerie didn't even know magic existed and now she's right in the middle of a war to determine the direction of magic itself. With the Pure aggressively hunting families that won't back them, refugees are turning up in numbers that the Shadows aren't prepared to handle. The Council wants the school back, too, but are more interested in making examples than amends. And a secretive third force is nestled right onto the edge of campus, trying to undermine everyone.
All the while, Valerie is trying to just be a student and figure out what she's going to do after graduation. Where are her friends going to end up and will she even be able to see them, given the life-on-the-run that is being a Shadow?
What is life going to be like? Can she even make it that far, given the powerful forces opposed to what the Shadow School represents?
Guess it's time to get to class. We have a lot to figure out.
That and her natural abilities as a magic user, which she isn't ready to trust, either.
Once more, Valerie and the rest of her friends are back at school, but this time she knows something that no one else does. She knows the name of someone who might be able to help them. Might be able to help her stop the war, stop the Pure, stop the magic that could very easily wipe out the entire world.
The problem is that there's no guarantee she survives another encounter with serious magic. Even the woman who came to help her thought that she was better off not doing anything. She should let the fighters fight while she learns whatever she can. She's not strong enough to fight the Pure. None of them are.
Is her luck going to hold out long enough? Or will the Council's machinations and the Pure's ambition finally force her into a confrontation that she might not make it out of?
Class is in session, and Valerie is scrambling to get herself ready for a fight with real magic.

Unfortunately, once you've fixed one impossible problem, people get the impression you can do any of them. So instead, Avery's getting chased by a dude with a spoon and Monte seems to be the go-to whenever the self-appointed galactic police have a suicide mission. The crew of the Kingfisher is on another not-entirely-voluntary mission, and this time the goal is rescuing peace. What can a hacker, an ex-soldier, an assassin, and a surfer do in the name of peace? Well, that's certainly going to be interesting to find out.
Get ready to ship out, because there are no lazy days ahead. The crew of the Kingfisher is on the job.
When Harper flags a message on the back-channel system that leads to a couple on the run and wanted for mass murder the crew isn't sure what to do. The problem is, Carbon recognizes Alicette from her time with the Viperidae, and getting involved is going to bring them directly into conflict with Bosh. Bosh doesn't leave loose ends.
There's more to this story than anybody knows, and the crew of the Kingfisher may be in for their most dangerous mission yet, if they're willing to commit to seeing it through.
It's not like they've walked away from a fight before, is it?
Her new life began the day she walked into Tell's office, looking for someone who could do something about it.
Tina isn't sure if Tell is weird for a detective, or if detectives are just weird people, but he talks like he may be the one who can figure out who killed her parents and why, and Tina is willing to put up with a lot of weird to get answers.
The answers that she's going to get aren't anything like what she would have expected, and she's about to find out that the world is a lot bigger, a lot darker, and a lot less scientific than she's spent her whole life believing.
It's an awful lot more interesting, too.
