Maddie gets rattled by a candy-coated murder.
It's Wine and Chocolate Days in San Benedetto, and paranormal museum owner Maddie Kosloski has sweet dreams about her new Magic of Chocolate exhibit. Her latest attraction is a haunted Mexican whisk called a molinillo that rattles if someone lies.
When Maddie visits the town's new boutique chocolate shop, she finds one of the owners dead and covered in melted cocoa. Maddie's determined to catch the killer, and she soon uncovers deadly dealings in the world of artisan chocolate. But the deception surrounding those dealings are enough to make the molinillo rattle all night. Will Maddie have to temper her passion for sleuthing before a killer makes her fate a bittersweet one?

I think that Kristen Weiss is a gifted author. She knows how to work each character into the story line and leave you breadcrumb clues as to how the mystery is unfolding.
I am already on to the next book in this series.
The book is a very easy and fun read. You become attached to the characters in the story.
This story centers around a chocolate related murder and a chocolate whisk that can tell when you lie in it's presence. Although I do believe that GD, the cat, knows more than he is letting on to.
I will say one more thing. To me it seems that Maddy, the owner of the paranormal museum, doesn't believe in ghosts/spirits. She often brushes off the fallen objects/signs and the sudden chills in the air as nothing. But are they really nothing occurrences? Perhaps she should give them just a bit more consideration.
Since she has not gotten any response from Reign, the chocolate shop providing the chocolate, Maddy walks down to the shop to check on her order. When Maddie enters the shop, it's to find the shop empty and no one responding to her calls. Maddie then walks into the kitchen area where she finds one of the owners dead on the floor covered in chocolate.
This is a well written, entertaining good read from Kirsten Weiss and a great addition to this fun series. I recommend this series for those who like cozy mysteries with mild, paranormal elements.
