Heavenly Young, chaste and pure in every sense of the word is left with the care of her father who has a devastating disease. Heavenly's mother abandoning her and her father when she was a teen, left her with a lifelong impression of not knowing love and believing no one will ever love her. She has ambitions to become a nurse. She volunteers at a hospital, but has to work another job to make ends meet. There she meets Dr. Ken Beckman (Beck). A man that has rules, two of them being he never involves himself with a vanilla or a virgin. Both of which Heavenly is. He is immediately drawn to her, but knows it would never work as he is a dominant and a sadist.
To make things even more complicated Seth Cooper an ex-cop turned P.I. has fallen to her charms as well. These 2 dominant men are friends, but the atmosphere turns feral between the 2 men when they both want to claim the captivating, enchanting Heavenly. There are humorous parts in this story when Beck and Seth go to great lengths to usurp the others' power to win Heavenly over.
It was fascinating and compelling to read how the dynamics of Heavenly, Seth and Beck come to terms with their true feelings and if they can come to a common ground together. I look forward to the next book in this series.
There are several things that I loved about the story but I'll only touch on a few.
The men in this story, Seth and Beck, not only have a true dislike for one another but when they find out they are both pursuing the same girl it really takes their feeling for one another up a notch. I LOVED the games they played in order to make sure the other didn't get to close to Heavenly in order to take her to bed. Holy cow but one of the games had me laughing so hard I had started choking on the water I was drinking in order to cool off a bit from a hot and steamy scene.
Heavenly, named perfectly, is a wonderful character not only is she extremely likable but she is a hardworking young lady that is doing everything she can to help her ailing father while working and putting herself through school in order to get her nursing license. Time for herself? Not so much but what little time she is able to get away for a bit she spends with either Dr McHottie (Beck) or the seriously Hot PI (Seth). Poor Heavenly doesn't know how to deal with her feelings for both men, especially when they dislike each other so much, I felt bad for the fact that she didn't have anyone that she could confide in other than her new friend Raine, whom you'll remember if you have read The Doms of Her Life series, (One Dom to Love is currently FREE), which I haven't yet but plan on doing soon.
Things aren't drama free for any of them, I was extremely surprised when I learned about something Beck is hiding from just about everyone. But you know what they say about A skeleton in the closet....the truth always comes out, especially at inopportune moments.
As for Heavenly she is hiding the fact that she is caring for her sick father and when Seth and Beck find out, well lets just say that really brings out the dominate side of both of them.
Seth has a few secrets of his own but we don't know all of it yet and unfortunately we will have to wait to find out.
It feels like I have waited forever for these 3 authors, Shayla Black, Jenna Jacob and Isabella LaPearl to write another book together. They truly write seamlessly and you won’t know who wrote what. Now I am so thrilled to be able to read The Choice. I thought that this was the first book in a new series but, I think it is still a part of Doms of Her Life Series. And, is Heavenly Rising #1. It was great to read about the previous characters in the Doms of Her Life Series. I love that Raine, Liam & Hammer all had main parts in this book. Raine is probably the only friend that Heavenly has.
The Choice is Heavenly Young’s story. She is a nursing student, taking care of her sick father and trying to work and pay for rent, food and her fathers medications, which are astronomical.
She has attracted Dr. Ken Beckman (Beck) a “Vascular Surgeon by day and super-alpha by night.” She has also attracted Seth Cooper an ex-cop now turned private eye. These men are both members of Club Shadows. Not that they go to Shadows much in this book.
Heavenly is 23, a virgin and is an innocent. Both these Alpha’s Beck & Seth want Heavenly. And, it’s best man wins. There were some LOL moments when Seth and Beck were one upping each other. The Choice is a slow warm up as to the sexual heat in this book. But, when it finally happens it is HOT.
The Choice ends in a cliffie. Not a bad one but, still a cliffhanger. I can’t wait until Doms of Her Life: Heavenly Rising saga: The Chase comes out in 2019. I give The Choice 4.5 stars.
