About Chris Glatte
I love reading a good war novel but often find world war two fiction to be missing the brutality and grittiness of the world's most violent conflict. I strive to fill that gap and honor our veterans by keeping my stories gritty. My readers will find hard-hitting combat action and lots of it. The 164th Regiment Series has three books and one novella. The series follows the 164th Regiment's march towards Japan.
The Tark's Ticks Series is about an often overlooked chapter of WWII, the fall of the Philippines in 1942. Everyone has heard of the Bataan Death March, but what about the months long battle leading up to it? Sergeant Tarkington and his squad are in the thick of it in this gritty series.
I live in the hills of Southern Oregon overlooking the amazing Rogue Valley. When I'm not writing or reading, I'm spending time with my wife and sons, usually on a river or a mountain.

One courageous squad tackles three deadly missions in the Pacific Theater at the height of World War II…
Lieutenant Tarkington is the leader of Tark’s Ticks, a squad of soldiers who take on the most dangerous tasks in the Pacific Theater. After losing a close friend in combat, Tarkington struggles to keep his team on the right track—and when they’re assigned three lethal missions, each team member will be pushed to his limits.
Mission One sends the squad to perform reconnaissance on a Japanese airfield, where a last-minute order from headquarters will throw them into direct contact with the enemy.
Mission Two introduces a new Japanese-American team member determined to prove he belongs, with tensions rising in a squad divided by his arrival. But when the team is tasked with taking out a Japanese general on a remote island, they must set aside their differences to complete the operation, where a lack of trust can have fatal consequences.
Mission Three raises the stakes even higher when the team learns the location of a group of prisoners, including people close to Tarkington’s second-in-command. Controversial orders from headquarters collide with the squad’s sense of justice when they arrive at the scene—and with so many lives on the line, making the right decision comes at a steep price…
Filled with gritty combat scenes, well-researched historical details, and pulse-pounding action, this historical thriller is a must-read for fans of P.T. Deutermann, W.E.B. Griffin, and Tom Clancy.
Some missions are FUBAR from the very beginning.
Tarkington and his men are tasked with a long-range reconnaissance mission deep behind enemy lines. But when their C-47 is shot down, Tark’s team must make the perilous trek through the jungle to a besieged Wau airfield. The airfield is vital to both the Allies and the Japanese, and soon Tarkington and his men are embroiled in its defense. To make matters worse, an American airman has been captured by the nearby Japanese forces.
Can Tark’s Ticks defend the airfield and rescue the downed aviator? Or will a hostile jungle and determined enemy prove to be too much?

In early June 1942, the Japanese occupied Attu Island—A year later, the U.S. Army took it back.
Attu Island sits in the far western reaches of the Alaskan Aleutian Chain. It has one of the worst climates known to man. The cold, wet-weather, matched with the boggy, treeless tundra, made the fighting conditions some of the worst of the entire Second World War.
Tanks and other support vehicles were useless, leaving the GIs alone to assault the relatively small force of well-dug in defenders from one foggy ridgetop to another. As casualties mounted, the quick three-day battle the allies hoped for, dragged on for nearly three weeks of constant fighting—often hand to hand.
For two soldiers linked by friendship but separated by towering ridges, day to day survival meant facing constant challenges, not only from a relentless and motivated foe, but from the island itself.
Shrouded Glory is a gritty WWII novel and will keep you turning the pages.
Platoon Sergeant Carver and the soldiers of Able Company are thrust into the battle for the Philippine Islands. Each island, big or small must be taken and the Japanese occupiers killed or captured. Each island is another challenge. Another way to die.
With the help of Filipino resistance fighters, the U.S. Army relentlessly moves forward. Each campaign takes a deadly toll and further demoralizes them.
To Carver and O’Connor, the war seems endless. Every day of combat decreases their odds of survival. Can they find hope in the future? Will they survive this fight just to be thrust into another desperate battle?
This is the third and final gritty war novel in the 164th Regiment Series.
Soldiers stumbling upon mercy and miracles; children sharing gifts of friendship and love; romance finding its way into lonely, war-weary hearts; resistance fighters, spies, families on the home front—all bringing their own rays of hope in the darkest of time.
