Andrew Cooper & Merritt Patterson are two actors who take their craft seriously.

I have watched a lot of Hallmark movies and up until this movie, Operation Christmas was my favorite. After watching Christmas at the Palace I know how I determine a great romantic movie --- just as Marc Blucas and Tricia Helfer in Operation Christmas had such romantic chemistry, so does Andrew Cooper and Merritt Patterson have great chemistry in Christmas at the Palace. I believe it is the actor who takes you on a romantic journey. Andrew Cooper leaves you no choice but to go with him. The way he looks at Merritt Patterson, the words he speaks, but most importantly how he makes you fall in love with him. I hope Hallmark puts Andrew Cooper in more romantic movies so we can see an actor who can really get into his role and make us really feel his passion and love.

Another really good movie from Hallmark !

Another movie in which a father in his kingly duties is not giving his daughter the attention she longs for; but the woman he hires to fulfill a wish for his daughter also ends up helping them both. This story is also about two long time close friends, one a skater (Jessica), and the other her choreographer (retired skater Katie). They dream of owning their own skating rink back home which they now can afford to buy with the money the king has paid them to put on a skating pageant to fulfill his daughters wish. The growing love between Katie and the king is the central theme of the story. but there is also a sub plot with a growing affection between Jessica and Nicholas the kings "man Friday" and best friend.

More Skating, Please

I ordered this film because I have learned that I can trust the Hallmark Christmas films to be very enjoyable. I particularly purchased this film because I liked the idea of figure skating being a part of the plot. I enjoyed the film, but there is very little space in the movie for actual figure skating scenes. The film would be richer and more enjoyable for viewers if there were some real figure skating Christmas magic. I am also beginning to tire a bit from Hallmark Christmas movies set in fictional tiny European nations where English is the dominant language. This is an enjoyable film, but it could have been so much better executed.

A fun Hallmark video about two American girls visiting the fictional kingdom of San Senova...
Verified purchase
Pretty blonde Katie (Merritt Patterson) and her equally pretty blonde friend Jessica (Brittany Bristow) travel to the small European kingdom of San Senova where they meet young King Alexander (Andrew Cooper) and his pretty daughter Christina (India Fowler). The princess loves ice-skating, and it turns out that Jessica is a world-famous skater much admired by the younger girl. The king sadly has a bit of a reputation for being a Grinch at Christmastime, and so his young daughter persuades him to allow the skaters to stay and put on a holiday pageant-on-ice to improve his reputation with the people of his kingdom, which he agrees to do. Meanwhile, there's a romantic chemistry building between the monarch and pretty Katie, which it turns out ALSO improves his popularity with the populace! A cute story with good casting and the predictable happy ending!

Lovely Christmas film but female lead bit too artificial
Verified purchase
Lovely film and everything about it was heart-warming, joyful, and yes, perfectly 'Christmas'-y. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the female lead. The supporting female lead was a much better actor and was much more believable. Yes, loving Christmas ought to keep joy in your heart and while it's definitely lovely to be happy, the female lead was way too smiley the whole time. Sadly, the perpetual smiley face seemed quite artificial after a while, taking away from her acting...wish the director had caught that and given her more freedom to be a real human being instead of (sorry but it did seem this way halfway through) someone acting in a very long toothpaste commercial. At times, the young actor playing the princess was a better actor when she had scenes with the lead (?!).

Most beautiful & inspiring Christmas presentation
Verified purchase
So glad I came across this Christmas story. Love those who are in it especially. There's such a beauty to enjoy in the
Christmas season. This will be a favorite of mine. It was absolutely perfect and those who were in it are already my favorites to watch. The king's daughter is new to me, but she is so sweet in her approach to the king and his wishes. This was a lovely presentation, everything about it including the costumes and scenery. Thank you!

Christmas At the Palace

Hallmark Channel does it again. Christmas at the Palace is about two skaters going to San Senova as they are hired by the royal family of San Senova. They help to put on a pageant for Founders Day. These two skaters are going to buy a skating rink back in the United States so they can train new skaters. Does Katie, one of the skaters, fall in love with the King of San Senova?
