About the authors
Hugh Howey is the author of the award-winning Molly Fyde saga and the New York Times and USA Today bestselling WOOL series. The WOOL OMNIBUS won Kindle Book Review's 2012 Indie Book of the Year Award — it has been as high as #1 on Amazon — and 40 countries have picked up the work for translation. Ridley Scott and Steve Zaillian are adapting the work for 20th Century Fox.
Samuel Peralta's work has hit the USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestsellers lists, and been shortlisted for Best American Science Fiction & Fantasy. His award-winning poetry has been spotlighted by the BBC and Best American Poetry. His 'Future Chronicles' anthologies were all #1 bestsellers on Amazon, as was the recently released collection of his own work, 'Memory's Children'.
Physicist, entrepreneur, storyteller - he's designed nuclear robotic tools, built solar plants, and founded companies in optoelectronics, mobile software, and artificial intelligence. He's a producer of independent film, including Golden Globe nominee 'The Fencer' and Emmy Award winner 'Real Artists'. And he cooks a mean risotto.
I've always been thinking of stories for as long as I've been alive. I have way, way, way too many to tell and far too little time to tell them.
In 2011 I actually started shaping and weaving those random, jumbling, chaotic masses of thoughts into coherent narratives and began self-publishing.
I write a little science fiction, a little fantasy, a little humour and comedy, and a few other things all over the place.

I'm the hermit that has too many cats. I'm the fanatic that becomes way too involved in science fiction and fantasy films and dramas (Battlestar Galactica, Helix, True Blood, Marvel Films, etc). I'm the kind of guy that, once the biscuit packet is open, I eat the entire lot - yes, I have a sweet tooth.
I'm Geoff Wakeling; a gardener, conservationist and writer. If you read my work and you'll likely spy many creatures, whether centre stage or simply in the setting....I'm the man man that steps over ants and rescues languishing worms that have strayed onto the hot pavement. I'm also still awaiting the arrival of my Hogwart's Owl!
The world is sometimes a battle to deal with, so I escape into books. Try out Inside Evil; the fantasy series with fantastical creatures, parallel worlds and doppelgangers. If you're looking for a zombie story, then try Pacifier 6; a world where mutants have been pacified into a docile slave force through medicine. Or, if you love a little science fiction and dystopian, pick up CRYO and follow John's journey as he enters cryonic sleep and awaits his future.
Peter is a New Zealand Australian science fiction writer, specialising in making hard science fiction easy to understand and thoroughly enjoyable.
His FIRST CONTACT series is topical rather than character-based, meaning each book stands alone. These novels can be read in any order, but they all focus on the same topic of First Contact with extraterrestrial lifeforms. In this regard, the series is akin to BLACK MIRROR or THE TWILIGHT ZONE.
Hard science fiction is a misnomer as far as categories of literature go, as it sounds harsh and difficult to understand, but that is far from reality. Hard science fiction is simply plausible science fiction, fiction that is written in such a way as it conforms to the known laws of science, and that makes it more interesting, as there's no magic wand the protagonist can wave to get out of trouble. Peter's forays into hard science fiction could best be described as informative science fiction or enjoyable science fiction.
Peter is a fan of such classic science fiction writers as Philip K. Dick, Arthur C. Clarke and Michael Crichton and their influence on his style and story lines is readily apparent. You can follow Peter on Facebook or Twitter or find him posting some interesting tibit on his blog http://thinkingscifi.wordpress.com/
Ann Christy is a retired Navy officer and secret science fiction author. A USA Today and Wall Street Journal Bestselling author of speculative fiction for both young adult and adult audiences, her work is known for deep themes as well as action packed adventures. She lives by the sea under the benevolent rule of her canine overlord and the less benevolent rule of an incredibly foul-mouthed cat.
Contact Ann Christy via her website: http://www.annchristy.com. You can find sneak peeks and a great deal of randomness suitable for killing at least 20 minutes of work time.

Christopher Boore writes to a punk rock beat...the aspiring Mandalorian Merc, husband, father, electrician/chef, has dipped his foot into the literary swimming-pool with his first self-published sci-fi short, Next Up, and is currently working his way up to a solid doggie-paddle amongst the warm waters and sandy beaches of South Florida's Treasure Coast.
Theresa Kay writes stories that feature flawed characters, found family, and a bit of romance in science fiction, urban fantasy, and paranormal worlds. She's constantly lost in one fictional universe or another and is a self-proclaimed "fangirl" who loves being sucked into new books, movies, or TV shows. Living in the mountains of central Virginia with her husband and two kids, she spends her free time reading tons of books, binging anime and Doctor Who, and playing Tomb Raider and Assassin’s Creed.

Jennifer Foehner Wells' debut novel, Fluency, rocketed up the Amazon charts in 2014 and was a frequent KDP Select All-Star. Her sequel, Remanence, was a finalist in the 2016 Goodreads Choice Awards.
Jen is a serial hobbyist (Handy to have around in any upcoming zombie apocalypse). She cooks, bakes, knits by hand, dyes fiber, spins yarn with a spinning wheel, paints with watercolor, and cares for aquaria and houseplants. In the past she has also made beer and wine, quilts and hand-hooked rugs, socks with antique sock machines, soap, gardens, paper, and bound books. She also games. And reads science fiction and fantasy almost exclusively.
Jen currently lives in Pennsylvania with the geekiest literature professor on the planet, two video-game crazed teenaged boys, a couple of unhinged cats, a very barky Great Pyrenees, and a Pekingese/Chihuahua mix that will steal your heart, if you let him.

Deirdre Gould lives in Central Maine with her three children and husband. She's also resided in northern Idaho, coastal Virginia and central Pennsylvania, but all of them just led her back home. The winters sure are cold, but that just means the zombies run slower. The area is isolated, but that just means the apocalyptic diseases don't spread as quickly. And the storms are bad enough that no one thinks you're crazy for "prepping." It's kind of ideal for a post-apocalypse writer when you think about it.

Hello, and welcome. I'm a novelist, a writer of short stories and occasional media articles.

This snappy collection includes several gems. In Ann Christy’s macabre “Vindica,” a guy prepares for the apocalypse but forgets to include his girlfriend, comes up with *almost enough* cash to pay his way, and is enslaved as soon as the stuff hits the fan, which makes him *really angry.* (Moral: if you’re riding out the apocalypse in style, at least treat the help with some respect!) In Theresa Kay’s touching “Six Days,” a mother has just that much time to do right by her child. In “Gloria,” Hugh Howey puts the reader inside the head of a self-aware, pious ghoul. David Adams’ memorable “Her” tells the tale of a trans person turned zombie. And, in his impressive “Free Fall,” Peter Cawdron weds hard science fiction to the zombie apocalypse story.
The writing needs some weed-pulling here and there, but the collection’s overall quality is high. Every contributor makes a strong effort; the stories mentioned above are just my favorites.
It’s all good fun and, in this reviewer’s opinion, well worth the modest investment. Six bucks for hours of scary-good reading? That’s some kind of bargain, if you ask me. Shamble on over to the Kindle Store and corner your copy of _The Z Chronicles_ today!
(I received an advance reader copy for purposes of reviewing this work, but then paid for a copy, figuring it’s a good idea to support talented independent authors!)
Disclosure: I received an ARC of this collection in exchange for a fair review, but then I bought it anyway.... No other compensation was received.
Oh, and someone really needs to make a short film out of Z Ball.
There are exceptions: "Girl, Running", "Gloria" and "Curing Khang Yeo" are very, very good stories.
