Beautiful, Thoughtful film

Films on this subject are usually unwatchable to me. Histrionic, dramatic. This film is very light handed. Thoughtful. I was surprised.

First comment, that was some truly amazing acting. The characters were so believable. The story was powerful, sad, moving and disturbing as it was based on a true story. It is a story that needs to be told. Each man is on their long & painful journey for some healing from the horrific traumas they each faced.

Worth the watch

Two impossibly good-looking and very troubled young men work across their differences to find solace in each other.

Ellipses in dialogue perhaps more moving than speech through power of suggestion.

Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Long Island beautifully captured by the camera.

Just learned the two leads included autobiographical material in their stories. Another reason the film's so effective.

Great, intimate movie

Read a review and wanted to rent this to check it out. I appreciated how intimate the story was, and felt like you really got to know Sam and Ben over the course of the movie.

Superb film in a naturalistic style
I was skeptical during the first ten minutes that this movie would elevate itself above most of the other bad gay movies made in the States, but this one gleams with intelligence.

"Cicada" is like the sexy and whip smart films that Xavier Dolan makes. This is one perfect movie.

It is also refreshing to view a film in which the characters are not hyper-exaggerated gay stereotypes.
