Cheesy goodness!

What can I say? I’m a sucker for cheesy Cinderella type romance movies. This one had a fun twist and included some catchy musical numbers. I don’t really ask for more than that for this type of movie. If you’re looking for something deep and meaningful, this is definitely not it. Good lighthearted fun with some chuckles thrown in.

To give some demographics... I’m a female reviewer in my mid-20s. That’s not to say people outside this demographic won’t enjoy it too (I’ll probably enjoy this kind of movie when I’m old and gray as it’s my guilty pleasure) but just giving you an idea where I’m coming from. Enjoy!

I enjoyed the movie I really did, but though I am known to watch movies over and over this is a one time watch.
The story left to many wholes in it. A bright talented skillful girl like that that is not in school could have walked away long ago so why didn't she.
The combined IQ and acting skill of the step mother and step sisters wouldn't equal a 5 year old let alone a 5th grader.
Cinderella and her prince completely carried the show. If not for them the show would have been a one star. There is an nice musical dance number that was cool despite the fact it didn't fully fit. Georgie and the princes manager did a fair job of acting but the wholes in their parts made them weak. They had a hard time trying to carry those spots not that I blame them, even the best of actors would have had trouble with those wholes. Still if your under 10 and all you need is a good song and dance well it's a great show.

Okay, so it has serious flaws. The evil step mother/sisters were too over the top/too annoying. It played like a spoof. And the audio mixing when Sofia Carson sang was awful. Her singing is wonderful but she was supposed to be singing on a stage without a mic and it was blasting like a loud radio. Her lip syncing was off too. Ignoring the flaws, it was a heartfelt story and I liked it.

yeah, shouldn't have watched. "I'm not like other girls" meets "I think being a british musician is the entirety of my personality." All of this is justified by the duress our heroine experiences by the hands of the evil mom and the tweevils. Kinda tired of the overplayed "bimbo" trope as well. People who are mean aren't always hyper-feminine. It's just thinly-veiled misogyny. On the flip side, our heroine knows tons about motorcycles, and that is portrayed as very desirable to the love interest of the movie, enforcing that you are worth more as a woman if you have more knowledge of predominantly male activities and interests. Like, oh! She really isn't like other girls. SMH. Maybe I'm nit-picking, but I'm just kind-of done. Works in wattpad, not in a movie.

I have no idea how this even went into production?? I am a huge fan of cheesy movies, but god, this was just terrible. I mean, there's virtually no plot and nothing happens the entire movie. I was actually so shocked watching this it is so bad it's just BAD. You know how there are bad movies, but they're so bad they're good? This is just bad. Like no good at all. If you want to watch a cute and cheesy Cinderella movie just watch the Hilary Duff one it is SO much better. Wow this was a bad movie.

Watch it with subtitles to get the full effect! "Close my eyes and make a squish". If you are a Happy Feet fan you will be pleasantly surprised. This is an informative thriller that will teach young kids the joy of mechanics and vehicular construction. I, myself, am from Yorkshire Puddingshire and I think her accent was SPOT ON!!! It was also a hard hitting expose on the exotic flora and fauna of the English country side (such as the symbol of the cherry blossom which also is an underlying metaphor for the delicate political state of Great Britain)… although as this targets young children I think that metaphor is lost on them and it is your job to explain it. DON"T BOTHER RENTING, JUST BUY IT ON THE SPOT!!!

I really don't like giving bad reviews

I really don't like giving these type of reviews, but unfortunately, this one did not hold up to the standard of the 2 previous with Hillary Duff and Selena Gomez. It was pretty cheesy. I have a 10year old and we watched together. She would have tried to watch this at least 2 to 3 more times within 24hr rental time up AND would have asked me to purchase if she really liked it.... she didnt. We have the other 2 on DVD.
