1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected at all
By L on June 19, 2017
I'm not really sure what Cinderella the other reviews are for but mine is for the Cinderella shape book. I collect Cinderella books and love versions from around the world. Because it was called a "shape book" and by the clock on the front I expected it to be a Cinderella story for younger kids with shapes labeled (like clock labeled circle etc.). In actuality it's old illustrations that won't grab a little one's attention and I guess it's called a "shape book" because it isn't a traditional rectangle shaped book. Which I couldn't really tell by the picture.

I ordered this on April 1st and it got delayed several times only to finally arrive on June 19th. Waiting so long only made me more excited for the book only to have those dreams dashed to pieces.

Some of the illustrations are beautiful albeit not very colorful. The step-sisters and step-mom are TERRIFYING! I suppose it's because you are supposed to hate them but it's too much. I would have a hard time reading it as a kid.

I have no idea if I am keeping this. It's not worth the money in my opinion especially since I had to wait 2 1/2 months for it to arrive. But the hassle of returning it may be too much. Ugh why did Amazon have to change their returns? Life was so much easier then and I would never have hesitated to return this.

See the pictures I posted to decide if you'll like the book. I wish I had known what to expect it wouldn't have gone in my cart.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wrong Cover depicted for this Edition.
By The Illustrated Home Librarian on March 26, 2012
Cinderella (Fairy Tales) [Hardcover]. Charles Perrault (Author), Roberto Innocenti (Illustrator). Hardcover: 32 pages. Publisher: Creative Editions (October 1, 2000).
Language: English. ISBN-10: 1568461305. ISBN-13: 978-1568461304.

Very disappointed to receive this book with an entirely different and virtually impossible to read dust jacket. Small cover illo is not quite 5"h x 2.5"w. Flap information is impossible to read as the black ink is lost in the dark green textured paper. Whoever the graphic designer was for this job should be fired. Why? The PICTURE is important in PICTURE BOOKS. And two, there are people who actually wish to read the jacket flaps.

Usually a dust jacket adds value and enjoyment to a book. Not this time. What a waste. If I had seen this book's actual cover offline, I wouldn't have bothered. Suggest that other interested buyers confirm the DJ edition with sellers before purchase. Or purchase the original 1983 edition. Which is now what I wish I had done.
